How does this only have 12M views?? It’s the greatest music video ever! It launched my Chem Bros obsession when it came out.

"Greatest ever" accolades can go to a lot of vids, thankfully. Tom Petty's "Don't come around here no more" is one. Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity" is another. Yes's "Leave It" is yet another. (OK Go sits in its own category -- you can argue for hours over which is their best, and you can also argue whether they're a band first, or into making music only so they can make really cool videos.) Most people go for mediocrity, which makes it easy to make a boring video (which is what most bands do.) On that, you can at least hope to see all of the really awesome videos easily. If you dug deep enough, you could compile maybe 50-100 hours or so of truly creative videos.

@starwarsunfiltered78484 ай бұрын
1999 was right about the time that MTV transitioned into pure suck, thanks to pop music and TRL. You could still see good videos (usually late at night or in the morning, like this one), but from 2000-2004 and on it was only pop music and trendy Top 40 rock and I think by 2005 there wasn't even music videos anymore outside of the occasional episode of Making The Video. MTV had basically relegated all music content to their satellite channels of MTV2 and MTVHits, and even those became inundated with trash after a few years. From 2005 and on, MTV was all reality shows and complete garbage. I don't even know why the network keeps the "MTV" name outside of the obvious brand; I mean...how can it be "Music Television" without any actual music content?
@ericthiel40534 ай бұрын
@@starwarsunfiltered7848 True. But MTV2 was still pretty legit. I loved it when they did A to Z in the summer, I remember a buddy of mine always tried to tape every video but would get like 5 blank VHS tapes in and give up lol. I think most the videos I watched were on MTV2 at that point.

I always loved this song. It’s so cool to rediscover songs from the soundtrack of your life. Especially when they bring back such vivid memories & feelings... that’s the power of music

Just fabulousness. The video, the vibe .the 90s had such a feeling if you could change your life, dream, be happy as you are and explore. Great times and sad my teenage son wont and doesnt get that feeling from the 2020's

No one gets that feeling in the 2020s !

1999- what an amazing time to be a teenager, before the world went to shit.

Garlicjr Made I wish i was a teen back in 99..was only 10 but obviously remember it..the Music was better,Tv was better and people actually needed to have talent to be 'famous'

Garlicjr Made I turned 21 in 1999. The second half of the 90's was the best time of my life. Worked like a mule and studied harder but the music I encountered was so great!

Amen - bands, not DJs, instruments, not computers, raw emotion rather than overproduced and soulless. One episode of 120 minutes revealed more talent and played more videos, in those two hours than MTV has in the last decade.

Garlicjr Made Yes, funny how the world always seems to go to shit after your specific youth had come to an end. You are just THAT special and unique.

И так каждый раз происходит. Та музыка из той эпохи, которая была сделана с душой и огромным талантом до сих пор радует окуная в хорошие воспоминания.
