allowance is something some parents will pay their kids if they do chores around the house. Like mopping the floor, dusting, or what have you- like cutting the grass. This is used to teach kids to learn how to spend money wisely, have responsibility, and work for their money. I agree and disagree with this method. Because I grew up with sometimes getting an allowance but it was like 50 cents for cleaning the whole bathroom or something like that. But I guess I personally don't feel kids should be paid to help clean a house they live in. They are part of the family and I believe we all should work together. But that is just my opinion. :) To each their own.

These cultures do a fantastic job of creating children who work in these professions. I know a eerily large percentage of Asian peers who are in or finishing up med school, law school, or vet school. Or they’re an engineer. The issue is how high this percentage is. I know deep down that there’s no way that so many of them are actually passionate about these careers. I thought I was passionate about being a doctor but it was a lie that I had convinced myself to belief. Part of me is proud that they’re all going to live well in a comfortable profession. But a larger part of me feels disappointed that many will fail to reach their potential in life because of the rigidity of these jobs. Ivy Z Yikes. My parents (Asian) don’t mind that much when I get a B, although my mom gets a bit bothered. I feel like your parents and grandparents have so much high expectations for you. My advice is just to do your best. Life isn’t fair, but parents like yours care about you and want you to succeed. But, Remember that grades aren’t always everything and they don’t define you. You’re trying and that’s what matters. Wherever you end up going in life, you’ll end up as someone great. Also, find something that makes you happy. Continue to study hard and do your best, but don’t let the negativity get into your mind too much.
