@smokinmoose24 жыл бұрын
JOKER....maybe you should change you handle to just “joke”. I thought it was so funny (not in a good way) that the country community dismissed them so out of hand when the whole Bush thing happened. And your comment is typical of the comments from the uneducated right, you know, the deplorables that Trump loves so much. Believe me when I say that country music needed them far more that the Chicks needed country music. And as a long time musician I found your comments about them having no talent to be laughable at best and just ignorant at most. I can deduce that your comment about them being lesbian indicates that you are afraid of powerful women and have to play the gay card to justify your ill conceived opinion. Guess what? Nobody, other than your close minded conservative claptraps give a damn. Everyone is entitled, in our free country, to speak their minds about anything, including you. But in the context of the days we live in, What Maines said about Bush pales in comparison to the garbage Trump and his groupies spew out many times each day. Of course, there is the fact that she wasn’t wrong. And if Bush wasn’t bad enough but then we got stuck with the orange one. In reality, none of that really matters in the context here, which is that the Chicks are incredibly talented and successful musicians, and you apparently not.

They'll never be A list entertainers ever again. Most people who find themselves in a hole, quit digging. Not Maines. They were a cover band primarily, and never had the chops to write an album. To up their profit on their last albums, they've forced the real writers to accept co writing credits for themselves (a change in policy on how original creators get paid better in the industry). They've been has-beens for a long time.

They surpass the notion of 'female band'. Simply one of the best. In the realm of ANY artists, there's no R&B act that 'keeps it as real' as they do or Country artist that writes as smart they do. It's so hard to label half their stuff as country. You have to go to male Rock artist for the arrangements they provide and excitement they bring, and even then, they are among the all-time best in the world. I can't wait to hear their new stuff.

I'm on my late wife's account. She loved these girls. Loved their music, loved their unwavering stance on women's rights, loved everything that put them at odds with the country music establishment... my girl was signed by a major and went down to Nashville to record her first album... she had written a song they liked, but she was different and didn't fit in with the aesthetic that they were comfortable with. Her song became a local hit, of sorts, but when the label decided to shelve it, the station that was in bed with the majors, as a corporate entity, was asked to stop playing it, even though they received many letters from her fans asking that it be released. Country music eats its children many times. I lost her 5 years ago... but she made the best music I was ever involved in. She didn't mean to leave me... and had no idea, nor did I, how many lives she effected positively. She was the kindest person I've ever known... always the person that would befriend the troubled individuals... which made her funeral twice as sad. All of the damaged souls she loved, as no one else could... she loved me, which was awesome, but I was the only guy that never hurt her... as I looked at that room full of people, it was hard... they weren't nice people... I understood that they hated me for making her happy, or making her not want to deal with the urgent and needy, troubled souls... which included her own parents. Drug addled and upset, they interrupted my eulogy I had just started, as her father pointed to his watch, one minute into it... "Can we move it along?" I held my tongue, left the home... it was her day. I would honor it, even if nobody else would. Her mother came by... the first time she saw our house. She was surprised at its size and that we lived on a lake. Though we had invited them and showed them pictures and movies. She hadn't even looked at them. She wanted her jewelry. That was it, though. She didn't want a thing other than that. So I still have all of it. And I treasure it. And our music. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2KQh3mOmb9oha8si=PQb0P-8Yn_x3IYH4
