I’ve watched almost 100 videos on picking up heel flap stitches. You’re the only person that explained this technique so that I understand how to do it. The close up is the best. Thanks so much.

Thanks for your video. I like your comment on the way to slip stitches on the right and wrong side. I pick up the slipped stitches with both legs as you do in the video but I also pick up an extra stitch to eliminate any hole that may form.

Fantastic tutorial! I have been struggling to pick up my stitches. I crochet and wished I do it with a hook. Lol.

I like your careful clear instruction and would like to try your Ready, Set, Go pattern, but I am a beginner and have only Flexi Flip sock needles. I cannot seem to wrap my head around how to translate your pattern into Flexi Flip-speak 🥰 . Before purchasing the pattern, I would greatly appreciate you explanation regarding how to do so.

Hi Bonnie! When you cast on your stitches, they'll need to be divided evenly onto 2 needles. The stitches on the first needle are the front of the leg/top of the foot. The stitches on the second needle are the back of the leg/heel/bottom of the foot. Your rounds will begin at the side of the sock. If you need more guidance, email me and I'll try to get you pointed in the right direction.

Yes, the division of stitches I do understand. Thank you for your offer to “point me in the right direction.”🥰 I am struggling to complete a pair of toe-up socks on the FlexiFlips. As soon as I finish, I will try your Ready, Set, Go pattern as I like the variation in heel structure you teach. 😍

If you're still getting used to the FlexiFlips, I recommend starting with the short row heel option. I've used the needles to knit all 3 heel styles, but the extra gusset sts on the "heel" needle can be a little tricky to manage. Keep at it though. The more you practice, the more comfortable you'll get with the process.

Hello Wouldn’t there be a big hole between the first picked up stitch and the stitch already on the needle? It looks like it will

Will this method work if I am using 9 in circulars and use a free DPN to help pick the stitches and knit them onto to my working needle on my circular? I am knitting my first sock and after I picked up stitches and worked into my gusset my stockinette pattern reversed into the wrong side and now I have to purl to get stockinette on the right side :( I may use this method w a an empty dpn like you did the int video

How do you deal with the gaps between the heel flap and heel turn or instep stitches? I’ve never picked up my stitches this way, preferring to pick up all the stitches, and possibly doing another decrease row. So I’m curious how you do it.

It depends on my mood. I first learned to do it by picking up an extra stitch or two which I don't care for because flap and gusset heels are already not the best fit for my feet and adding extra gusset sts makes it worse. You can pick up extra sts in the gap and immediately work them together with the sts on either side, kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXrXdmqQiJh8oZo. Another option is to use locking stitch markers to prevent the sts on either side of the gap from pulling away from each other as you knit the flap, kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3fFcnt5n9Gkbc0. I find that as long as I don't stress the stitches on either side of the gaps when I'm working the flap, the "hole" there is hardly noticable.
