The true and honest emotions of Jonathan have me in a flood of tears. I can hardly type. Jonathan and Raj talking on set is tearing me apart because they got to connect personally instead of just actors doing their job. Joseph had the hardest parenting job ever, raising God’s only Son. I often wonder how he could've put everything in perspective and do a 'job' he was given by our God. The Chosen just keeps getting better and better and emotionally deeper!!!! Portraying Jesus's and everyone else's lives in this series, with all the wonderful back stories, is the most precious wonderful gift we have been given. This series has brought people to God, Jesus, the bible and the church. Maybe some for the first time, some returning. There are no words to say THANK YOU enough to everyone involved in the making of this series, so THANK YOU!! May God keep showering His peace, grace and mercy on all.

i appreciate jonathan's response about encountering raj/joseph. their embrace was a beautiful, unscripted moment. it was as if raj playing his d ❤d gave his son a long, enduring hug of love, hope and maybe he prayed a blessing over him. and hey, it wasn't like jonathan was "bad" at playing the ball game cuz he tossed well he just didn't catch well "all" the time. what he proved to me and what made me laugh was he definitely would not get picked "first" to play on anyone's team... continued blessings. 🕊

Jesus Christ was not "bad" at anything. He quieted a storm with His voice and walked on water. I wouldn't dare say He was bad at catching a ball (or anything else). 🙂
@leemander
@leemander 11 ай бұрын
True but just as he was 100% God he was also 100% man, I would imagine the Father would make it so that Jesus still “learned” things. For example, just because Jesus was 100% divine, doesn’t mean he knew how to walk at infancy. He probably needed teaching and encouragement just like every other human. I would imagine this applies to things like catching a ball as well. Just a thought to consider!
@DucatiDiaries
@DucatiDiaries 11 ай бұрын
@@leemander By the age portrayed here, Jesus had already been shocking people with His knowledge and wisdom since He was a child. He had performed supernatural miracles, a thousand demons (legion) cowered before Him, begging Him for mercy, He had walked on water, silenced a sea storm with His mouth, and did so many miracles that the world could not contain books written in detail of them. Christ was THE powerful, supernaturally authoritative, alpha male the world had ever seen. As one man, He chased out many men at the market in the synagogue. He could not only catch a ball, with the power of the Holy Spirit in Him, He could take up the world in one hand and chuck it into the Sun.
@ingadingana

@@DucatiDiaries you must also remember that towards the end of His life, Jesus fell 3 times because the cross was too heavy for Him [at least I the physical realm]. Simon of Cyrene was compelled to carry the Lord's cross; so it is possible that the Lord in His human nature could be not good at things like games...
@DucatiDiaries
@DucatiDiaries 11 ай бұрын
@@ingadingana Jesus was made to carry the full cross and in addition to that burden, He'd been beaten beyond recognition, lost much blood, been dehydrated, starved, and subjected to torture that would have broken anyone else. His public suffering was for the glory of God. If He wanted to, He could have thrown the cross all the way to Calvary. Jesus Christ was THE powerful man of all time. I will reiterate, He could have simply caught a ball.

wow 5 stars for The Chosen. Thank you Dallas and Amanda. You guys are really Catholic. Believing in the Holy Family. That is what Ecumenism, Evangelical, Anglican and Catholicism all have in common. All religions should have this in common. The Holy Family. My best friend as much as my fantasy pursues skips some people but my best friend never forgets anyone. He knows that about me. It's only my faith, that helps me through knowing Jesus. What I see around me, usually not perfect but it's hey, we are living in the world waiting for perfection. Joseph may have been the earthly father of Jesus and of course Mary is the true LIVING breathing purist clean tabernacle of Jesus. So therefor I mean, any man that dies lives in Christ, and any men who live today are striving to be Christ. It's amazing to see a man's imperfections even a clergy member's imperfections and knowing he will be in God someday :-D it's mind blowing. it's scary at first because you literally touch that person and you can have all the feeling beyond this world for that person. It's weird. And it's loving and it's true. Something I will always strive for until I meet that day, cause I hope I will be there.

@@kellyadams79 The word "hagios" (saint) appears about 60 times in the New Testament & refers to the Lord’s people. I.e. it predates the Catholic usage/practice of canonizing certain people. Though I'm not Catholic, sometimes I use the word Saint (or apostle) when talking to non-Christians about someone in the New Testament who has what we here in the West would consider a common name (eg. Matthew, Mark, Paul, John, etc.) & especially with a name like Joseph who also appears in the Old Testament - sometimes it's useful for clarity in conversation.

God is Love and Jesus the Messiah is God! There's no "Teaching" Jesus "Love" since He personifies "Love"! ALSO: God had a Reason for not speaking much about Jesus before His Ministry began at 30(?)! You want to enter into that which God has chosen to hide? OK (maybe) but walk with as much of the Full Knowledge as can be learned of the Hyperstatic Union first and then tread Very Carefully! Trying to Show Jesus's Weaknesses or failures (non should exist considering 'Who' He was and Is) is What the Fallen World does! So, it's above this wonderful Series's Paygrade to "Enter where Angels Fear to Tread"! I haven't had a chance to See this scene but: "WHY DO WE HAVE TO SHOW JESUS "RELATABLE"? HE'S NOT "RELATABLE" most likely! The "Perfect Unfallen Son of Man", Who was Also GOD Incarnet has never been Seen until Jesus and will NOT again be Seen until the 2nd Advent! Without ''seeing" this clip not provided here as an episode, overall, I think it's Disrespectful and immature to Try and FORCE "Relatability" of Christ our Lord when the Triune God did not show it any Lack or Flaw of Character such as "Being in need of being TAUGHT The Meaning of "LOVE" !

Jonathan was speaking exactly like a method actor speaks; getting in the feelings of the character of the moment the actor seeks to portray. Christal, We did not make this show as a replacement for Scripture, and we tell everyone at the beginning to read the gospels. Highly recommend our "Statement of Faith" video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWKoXpp8fLCJjdk No one believes this is a replacement for the Bible, the only people concerned about confusion have been those who haven’t seen it or those who already know the story. Vivian: This show was created by a conservative, Bible-believing evangelical. It is based upon Scripture and history, not a straight re-enactment of nor a replacement for Scripture, and we let everyone know that upfront with our disclaimer. So, while we do add character backstory and cultural and historical context in between the gospel stories, we don’t change what’s in the gospels. If people are only comfortable watching a show that gets its information and ideas from nowhere but Bible verses, they might not like the show, but we've found that tens of thousands of people love the Bible now more than ever because of the show. Highly recommend our statement of faith video kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWKoXpp8fLCJjdk

Um... what kind of title is this? Why would Jesus, the God of the universe, the second member of the trinity, who came into this world to die for those He loved, have to learn to love? I mean, I get it. Jonathan had a moment with Raj. And that's sweet. So the title is not to be taken literally; it's talking about the cast, not the characters. But then the title says that Joseph never taught Jesus how to catch. This is a joke. I get it. But now it's talking about the characters, not the cast. So now we have a conflicting message. I mean, both parts are spoken of in the same breath. So either both are to be taken rhetorically or literally. Which is it? I've enjoyed this show so far, but the title of this video has me on edge. Jesus never needed to learn to love. So why does it say He did? There's already a whole lot of controversy regarding this show, and I'm starting to wonder if they're may be some truth to the claims.

Perhaps the Holy Spirit wanted to move you to portray Jesus having nostalgia cause why wouldn’t he?

It's not right to say that Joseph was the one that taught Jesus how to love. If anyone taught Jesus how to love, it may have been His Father, yes, but not His earthly one. If glorifying man is part of your agenda, you should consider Catholicism, because that's clearly not a part of Christianity. Even Jesus Himself, being in the form of a man, shunned the idea of being called "good". He said; “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good-except God alone.' -Luke 18:19. And Jesus IS good!

Jesus isn’t Superman. Of course he’s got quirks. Although one sad thing came to mind when I saw “Jesus” catch that ball and not know what to do with it for a moment: You know why he’s bad at this stuff? It’s because the other kids were scared of him or bullied him, so he didn’t play a lot of games. He stayed inside with Mom and Dad and studied the Torah and the prophets. Because in this version of Jesus’s life, he doesn’t have a best friend named Biff to be his friend when no one else would be there for him.

What a genuine, moving embrace shared by Jonathan and Raj, made all the more better by shaping and inspiring Jonathan's performance. It called to mind Mary telling Jesus moments before he delivered the Sermon on the mount, that his father was not there to witness it. Jesus replies reverantly, 'I miss him'.
