I saw the scene where Jesus was going over the sermon on the mount with Matthew as a chance for Jesus to spend some time with Matthew. Knowing he's one to journal things, He (in this portrayal) was giving Matthew a preview of the sermon. But mostly, if you watch Matthew, it was obviously touching and blessing Matthew in a more personal way than if he just saw it during the sermon's real time. Jesus loved all the disciples and I'm sure that He spent personal time with each one of them. Jesus was most likely a very busy man. Why not include each disciple here and there on things that he needed to do. Plus, since Jesus WAS fully man, why not consider that He felt the need to clear His head and organize His thoughts about the sermon? I loved that scene! And as for Mary Magdalene backsliding, we all backslide? Whether that happened to Mary or not, we need to see a scene like that and see how Jesus allowed her back in the fold. That scene was for my/our benefit. I know we need to be discerning about representations of our faith, but some people forget to relax and think through what you (The Chosen) might be trying to get across.

Very well said, to say that people will never sin again after becoming a Christian seems silly when we need to seek God daily and we’re still human. That doesn’t mean to seek out sin or test the waters with it, we shouldn’t dance with temptation, we need to truly lean on His understanding. And others should ask the question to themselves, if God is willing to forgive everything you’ve done to this point, wouldn’t He also forgive if you had a problem later on if you truly repent? We’re not perfect, not even as Christians because we are still human, but we should work on ourselves daily and grow spiritually, and imitate Jesus throughout our lives (in both public and private) because that’s what it means to be Christian, it comes from the words that literally mean “Christ-like”. I have seen people in a church harshly judge an individual at church who wasn’t dressed very nicely and still smelled of alcohol. They were gossiping about this person and saying how they don’t belong there. As if we can decide who’s worthy? Are we somehow better than others or more deserving of salvation than others? I would say not even by a bit. Salvation is for everyone and I believe as a Christian, we should be spreading love and His message to all. Whether they decide to listen or ignore, or even verbally attack us or spit in our faces, they deserve the opportunity just like anyone else. I have felt hopeless and ashamed when I was bonded by a sinful addiction and thought I would never be able to come back from it. Now I’m picking back up the pieces and feel more determined than ever to follow Christ. A lot of times I think back to the Apostle, Paul, and I think many should read the Books in the Bible he wrote. I have cried my eyes out when I realized just how much my thoughts or concerns felt addressed and understood, not just in those passages, but all throughout the Bible. God is good all the time 🙏🏼 God bless you and all others!

How Jesus is depicted in the series is how I always imagined Him to be-do we really think he was like a statue in church? He most likely had to be and is magnetic, charismatic, warm, wise, brilliant, charming-He drew people to Him and always will. I never imagined Him as one dimensional and pontificating all of the time. I truly believe the Chosen depicts Him most closely to how He was and is and always will be. I especially appreciate seeing him ethnically as a Middle Eastern man as I think the Actor has those origins. Has none of these critics ever seen the Prince of Egypt?? The one with Val Kilmer and Sandra Bullock? That was an adaptation on the story of the Book of Exodus, and that movie didn't fully adhere to Scripture either. And yet it still holds up so well over 2 and a half decades later. Why? Because it captured the spirit, the drama, the action, and the essence of the original story in an incredible way. Plus, the big scenes of Moses fleeing Egypt, meeting God at the Burning Bush, the Plagues, parting the Red Sea, those were all masterfully well-done, and Scripturally sound. From what I can gather, hardly anyone has raised the same level of criticism for that movie the way they do of the Chosen now.

If you stick to scripture or incorporate it more, I think you will see less people pointing out these mistakes. Some of the things ur focusing on are not big issues but your not talking about the things that are. A lot of people are watching this because it's fantasizing Jesus not accurately representing scripture as you advertise and the issue is that a majority of people won't read their bibles after they will just take the show as facts and that is the issue, your documentation of what took place isn't factual and if God warns us not to alter scripture then why are you altering it? Ligit question why not stick to scripture and add onto or take away from other aspects? There is so little scripture in comparison to all the filler that is the issue Dallas and fans... A character doing something in a show doesn't necessarily mean the show endorses it. @@MolyBDenum-lh3wy I thought so too at first , but then I thought why not, it's not scriptural , in fact Jesus sat down to teach , as traditionally sitting is a position of authority, He now sits at Gods right hand , but it brings across so many elements . & creates an impact , it's theatre , it's a show. Peter wanted to build 3 booths for Jesus, Moses & eEliijah. How do we know that the disciples didn't build a stage for him & Jesus didn't actually use it , so it was never mentioned in scripture. It doesn't really matter, & could it be that the Holy Spirit who is using this show actually inspired the crew to add a stage. ? ?
@darkangel152212 жыл бұрын
@@PeterGarofalo The building of the stage didn't bother me. I realize that a television series does have to include things for visual impact. I took it a visual representation of Jesus presenting Himself to the masses. It was impactful. As the saying goes, "The stage is set..." and it certainly was, as the most important events in human history were about to unfold.

There are things I don’t like everyday in my life but if I focused on them I would miss the beauty of the BIGGER PICTURE. This is not a Bible study. It is a media production and the creators have creative license to embellish as they choose. It never takes away from Jesus Christ our Savior. So I expect O may not agree with every single thing in it. So what? It is about my deep love of Jesus and His deep love for us.✝️🙏🧡

I stand that "The Chosen" is one of the best shows of all time, and i do 'split-hairs' on terminology of English translations, to include the Geneva, 1611, other KJV's, NKJV, and many more English versions, while also learning the Hebrew/Greek to know what should be there that either is not or the wrong term used. I praise YHVH-God, in the name of Yeshua/Jesus, that the Holy Spirit/Ruach Ha'Qodesh is using this show to reach those who can be reached with this method and medium. May Dallas and the whole of those working with him continue to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, in the name of Yeshua/Jesus.

My Dear Brother, thank you for addressing these issues, but as you know, you will always have critics when you are spreading the Good News of Jesus. People need to look outside the box and put themselves as it may have been in real life. I believe it’s a scriptural series, but with extra content to make us more “relatable” to Jesus and His Times in the Bible. I enjoy watching it as how things might have been, while staying scriptural. People need to think that these were real people who had emotions and moments that may have not always have been mentioned in the Bible specifically. While it’s a series about the Bible, there is room for entertainment to show more relatable stories on their lives. God Bless you and this series.

Is that Jesus of the bible? Watching Jesus on the screen will add to nothing at the judgement seat. You might watch this show and not even know Jesus Christ. I am convinced that most people who call themselves know religion instead of Jesus Christ. Or they have created their own God in their head. That is why we must make sure that we know the God of the bible and know that we are truly saved. Lay religion, Christian culture, and even politics aside. Someone who truly loves you is reaching out to you not willing that you should perish (2 Peter3), but that you be saved from the price of your sins. With that said, how do you deal with your sin? Yes you. How many times have you lied, lusted, or stolen? I'm guilty, what about you? I hope you feel convicted. But if you're going to reject the free gift of salvation, you ought to think about where you are going after death. Is this your mindset? Luke 12:19 Please please do not be this person that Jesus described here. I don't care how if you are in a ministry or even behind a pulpit. And their is no shame in getting saved. Matthew 7 21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. You see there will be professing Christians that were not actually saved. I want to help you. Matthew 18:3 "And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." Because of God's holiness we cannot be in his presence as we are in our sin. No matter how righteous one may appear everyone has sinned and one sin can lead to hell, but there is a way out. We don't deserve it but God made a way that we may become the righteousness of God (Romans 5). I want you to have 100% assurance of salvation. Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 14 6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Romans 6 23For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1Corinthians 15: 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Romans 10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13For WHOSOEVER shall CALL upon the name of the Lord shall be SAVED. Here is the gospel straight and simple: 1. Truly acknowledge that you have sinned against a perfect God and you are worthy of hell that can only be saved by the blood of Jesus Christ 2. Believe that Jesus died for and covered all of your sins and rose again. 3. Say to God that Jesus Christ he is your saviour. Please let me know. I am praying for you, today is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

You knew exactly what I needed. That's the pushback I'm getting from people in my church. You've given me some tools to dialogue back not argue just present what you were trying to tell. I do find it humorous that everybody thinks they know what's best, that they know what it was like in the first century. When your Bible scholars sat together and decided on something I don't have a problem with it. They are definitely more well-read than I am. But when you're watching something exercise a little bit of discernment - decide for yourself as you're watching the show you don't have to get angry. Would Jesus do that? Would he be upset at how he's depicted or he just be happy that he's in more people's hearts than he was before and more bibles are being opened than before? Thanks Dallas. 🙏

Hello Dallas. I am blessed each time I rewatch an episode because each episode points me to the Bible where I can have more in depth Scripture verses relating to that episode. The fact that the emphasis is at times on Jesus’s humanity makes me understand and appreciate so much more how Jesus can totally relate to us when we are lonely, sad, misunderstood, hurt and suffering. He has been through it all and for me personally, this aspect of Jesus enables me to draw closer to Him each day of my life. I believe totally that Jesus must have the most amazing sense of humor ever😀.

First of all, I really love the show. I can truly say that it has rekindled my faith in some ways. It is very moving and touching the way you portray certain characters. I don't agree with everything, but that's okay. I find it to be very entertaining and inspirational. You will never please everyone, and I hope you don't try. None of us were there to see how all of these events played out, so there is a lot open to interpretation. I have learned to enjoy what others create, while still holding to my own beliefs on how these events actually happened. The way you portray Matthew, Mary Magdelene, Eden, and especially Nicodemus makes them much more human and relatable. The scene at the end of episode 7 (Nicodemus and Jesus) is AWESOME!!!! Very powerful and moving. I can't wait for season three! God Bless you all!

One of my least favorite moments was when Jesus was troubled by the suffering that he knew was ahead of him and one of his disciples asked him what was wrong and he said "oh it's nothing". Jesus wouldn't have lied like that. That said, I know the writers of the show aren't perfect and aren't going to catch everything. If I want a perfect account of Jesus' life and ministry I'll go to scripture.

When I took my apologetics class in high school One of the points that was made was that God can’t do everything that is illogical or against his nature. For example creating a one ended stick or a married bachelor. So when Jesus was dancing with his disciples and he said “I can’t do everything“ I didn’t think much of it because I agreed with it for reasons stated before.

Dallas, thanks for being strong and faithful, because some "Christians" can be so stinking critical of everything or everyone, except themselves! They certainly can test ones patience with their pettiness. These "Brothers & Sisters" in the Lord are so unhappy with themselves in life, that unless they're tearing someone else down, they cannot be happy with themselves. These are the ones that Jesus spoke of when he said, check the plank in your own eye before you worry about the splinter in someone else's. May they learn from what you already have learned. Continue doing just what you're doing! Excellent job to everyone making this show a reality. Many blessings! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

The scene in episode 3 of season 2 of Little James talking about his disability. I am curious the motives behind that bc it is never mentioned in scripture and I feel as if that would have such a big influence on people if it is never even mentioned in scripture. This does not make me veiw the show as anything less and I always will continue to love it but this is something that has been on my mind as I am about to talk about that episode in my study!

I noticed this but found it helpful as I have been praying for healing for a very long time and could so relate. I took it as part of the helpful creative license but would love to see it addressed further.
@kmbn19672 жыл бұрын
I believe that Jesus can heal. However I think of Joni Erickson-Tada who is paralyzed from her shoulder down. From her accident at 17 she was asking God to heal her. She’s now over 60 years old and she’s still paralyzed but look how God has used her over the years. God has a purpose for every one regardless of the circumstance whether we are healed or not healed. Suppose He can bring more people to Himself in your unhealed state? Isn’t that greater? Your life and your suffering saving people from eternal hell? But isn’t that what Jesus did? We have to be cognizant of the fact that God’s ways and thoughts are higher than our own and what might seem horrible and unfair with a “how come God hasn’t ..”, will be the biggest rewarded blessings in heaven. I firmly believe that when we get to heaven and we understand what God was doing we will go o I see praise the the Lord! The most important thing is our relationship with Jesus. So, even though nowhere in scripture spoke about Little James being disabled , it did speak about Paul having a thorn in the flesh which God refused to take away. Have you ever had a thorn stuck in any part of your body, in particular your foot? Painful, uncomfortable and can get infected. But He said to Paul “My grace is sufficient for you, My strength is made perfect in weakness. If you can believe God for healing, go ahead and hold onto His word. Remember Hezekiah when God said “set your house in order, you’re gonna die”? Hezekiah begged God for more time (he was just 39), and God gave him 15 more years. So ask. However, if you’ve been asking and nothing’s happened,continue to ask but ensure that you are doing what God wants you to do in the meantime, and enjoy your life as is and be thankful and keep your relationship on point with Him. One thing to note though, Little James never asked Jesus on the show for healing, he was afraid Jesus would throw him off the team if he made it an issue, that’s what he said to Thomas during that one very long uncut scene. If at the end of your life you are still not healed of your infirmity, guess what, you are going into heaven whole for all eternity, AND I bet you’re gonna get rewarded for living faithful in spite of not seen a manifestation of your healing?I bet you?

Well the first one is just stupid. Some people do not realize that Jesus was The Son of Man. Human people!! These are people who get their affirmation from always seeming to be right or knowledgeable. So they complain so they can get attention to their knowledge! These in my opinion are perfect examples of Pharisees. Pity them. They are so concerned about the splinters of the show, they fail to see the logs in their behavior. Pray for them and then forget them. Nothing will please these folks, not even that the unsaved are being reached by The Chosen.

I have loved the show after two seasons so far! My only critique of the show has been their use of writing and passing around paper like it was an inexpensive commodity. Literacy rates in Judah around this time are estimated to be around 15% at most. I feel like doing a montage of people spreading news of Jesus' movements shortly before he arrives in a town by word of mouth would be much more accurate. The other thing is that because paper was so expensive the font of the Hebrew characters on paper would never be as large as they are portrayed. I do not believe this detracts from the message of the show, but it's just a detail that I thought ought to be mentioned.
