I appreciate that you don't shy away from discussing the algae and cleaning, so often we only see pristine tanks and none of the work that goes into keeping them looking good. You've done an amazing job, your tank is beautiful.

This is in my opinion one of the best shallow scapes I have seen. I love how the water line creates a clear separation between the terrestrial and aquatic halves and you get this cool contrast between the two. The terrestrial portion is really simple but very natural looking as a result. The aquatic portion however is super densely planted and, while perhaps not a realistic depiction of nature, is still super pleasing to look at. But because of that really impressive wood feature and how you placed it, you can view the tank as one singular piece and it looks very cohesive. I can just imagine it as a snapshot of some typical flooded forest floor, except the water has somehow been naturally filtered until it's crystal clear, and if you were small enough to dive in then you'd be met with a verdant aquatic wonderland. Super cool. Given how the wood specimen is a cut segment of a tree trunk that has been broken down naturally to some degree, I could totally see a lot of people leaning in to that by going for a realistic biotope style scape of a fallen tree trunk in a flooded forest. That would certainly look really good, but I think what you pulled off here is just so much cooler.

It's lovely, well done. I also adore your test kit. And the practical advice you gave with it. Despite having a degree in biology, I am terrible with chemistry. However, without testing; a hobbyist is left guessing. If they test fairly often, they can track patterns and identify deficiencies. In your tank, it was phosphate; in another it could be potassium or calcium, or numerous other things. it's hard to know unless each tank is tested for it's individual conditions.

The sound, the aesthetics, the peaceful vision you have is exactly perfect for a lovely tank and home for your babies. This style is unique and I love the way up close it also appears so expansive. Probably doesn’t matter with your tank weight, but for those watching with really big tanks, do not stack cinder blocks that way, stack them horizontal with holes up/down to maximize strength. Beautiful tank! With such little weight, the block stacking is aesthetically pleasing.

It looks incredible well! You always scape so beautiful tanks. Yet, I have a question and a remark. First the question: How do you prevent the fishes from jumping out of the tank? The corydoras and the hyphossobrycon are both fish which you should keep in groups. Also, Corydoras love to look for food in sand. Maybe you could add some in the shady areas of the tank?
@TheCineScaper3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! Unfortunately not, sometimes 1-2 fish jump out. This is the disadvantage of an open aquarium. There are 4-5 cory in the tank, they are just hiding.

The tank looks great. Are you doing anything special to make the emersed plants do so well? I am trying to grow Hygrophila Pinnatifida emersed in my setup as well but they are struggling a lot and the leaves are not nearly as beautiful as yours. The are planted in aqua-soil around an inch/2.5 cm under the water level. Maybe its a humidity issue or something else I miss?
@anthonychang23673 жыл бұрын
In my experience with that plant they like bright light and plenty of CO2 to grow well. I have to keep trimming them down because they start growing past the light. My house is usually around 74 degrees with a fan going most of the time. Humidity levels are low too. Yours just might need to get acclimated.
@Ramond86863 жыл бұрын
@@anthonychang2367 Thanks a lot for your response. I am not using any CO2 in my tank but as they plants grow emersed it would be my expectation that they are able to take all the CO2 they need from the air rather than from the water. Maybe I just need to give them a little more time. I now trimmed them down to the first set of leaves that are breaching the water and hope they will grow back healthier. Good to know that yours were able to do will without lots of humidity!

I just discovered your channel. Your tanks are gorgeous. I have a shallow as well, but it’s very upsetting when fish jump out, so I had to put glass on it. I would love to get some dimension above the tank with plants, but I can’t. I tried lowering the water level and everything. Do you have any problems with fish jumping?
@TheCineScaper2 жыл бұрын
Thank you and I am glad you are here!Unfortunately a few fish jump out from time to time, which is the disadvantage of an open aquarium.
