Portugal is so OP, not just archipelago but any naval-ish map (continents, etc.). I think they would be more reasonable if they were not allowed to settle additional cities on their home continent but it almost doesn't matter. They are the best civ in the game for one-city challenges. They are S-tier for diplomatic. 1. You're going to meet all the other civs and trade with them so will have alliances with most of them. 2. You're going to find all of the city-states first and will be able to buy whatever you need to meet the quests. 3. You will race through the culture tree (especially if Kumasi is in the game) so you can get envoys and better governments before anyone else that way. 4. You can buy diplo favor with all your excess cash.

Im not sure about that Domination stat, External trade routes, combat poor UU, coastal starts, and the fact that meeting large numbers of civs spreads your grievances, Casa India even punishes you for conquering all of your opponents coastal civs. They are one of the worst domination civs in the game bar none. I also think they're better for diplomacy than you might think. Diplomacy benefits greatly from ability to explore; the more city states you meet the more suzerainties you can achieve, and mass contact increases embassies and opportunities for military emergencies and aid requests, the latter you can dominate with your gold output. Visibility and a strong coastal capital makes StatueLol diplowins a lot easier because you can monitor the map and construct quickly.
