I've serviced at least 30 consoles this past year (from OG playstation 1 originals to PS4 pros) and it's amazing how dirty they can become. The consoles you cleaned were absolutely disgusting. I respect you for setting boundaries on keeping the power supply closed. Those high voltage capacitors are not something to be taken lightly. Keep up the great work!

Gut feel is good to go by, I don't know his training or background but with his setup I wouldn't touch PSU's either, with my old setup I would, but I've done that kind of stuff before enough to be comfy with it. Plus I did stuff like that in school and professionally too. I used to fix all kinds of stuff years ago, but I used to work on things like high power output radios and such too, went from that to fixing consoles and prototyping a bunch of stuff. Then jumped over to software development, but I should still have most of my old gear in storage.

Thanks bud. Unfortunately every time the console gets updated it burns out something called an e-fuse, sort of like a virtual fuse which then gets checked by the system during an update to prevent you from reverting to the previous version

@@TheCod3r Thanks for the swift reply (do you actually go to sleep!) I am aware of e-fuses, however, my old brain never realized they where burned by design at every firmware upgrade. I now understand why some people suggest it's often best not upgrade firmware 'willy-.nilly' on consoles.

Buzzing Phill, here’s a bit of advise never buy job lot of TVs faulty ever no matter what they say on the advert. I brought a couple pallets a few years ago and they were just total bs mainboard faults and disguised panel faults never had any luck with them 😭😭

The fan has only 4 screws on top, 2 of which are removed when removing the main board. It uses the PS4 shell itself as a side.

Oofta. Those consoles were...uhhhh...Phil-thy, LOL. I just did a semi-deep clean to my PC yesterday, and man, what a pain in the ass! It never fails that when you do a deep clean like that to a PC you invariably end up doing a full cable management job too. One thing that annoys the crap out of me is how Sony tended to use shiny, acrylic plastics on their consoles. No matter what you do they will always scuff, and scratch due to how soft acrylic is. Granted, they've since used less of it, but even the PS5s have that center piece that still scratches. Just out of curiosity, what happens when a console has been banned? I've never owned a console that required a net connection so I have no idea. I have a Gamecube, and an old fatboy PS2. The PS2 came with some sort of internet connection disk, but I've never even put it in the console. I prefer to play games by myself, and am probably one of the few people who despises online, multiplayer games.

Wonder if he could have just upgraded the star wars system to 9.00? It's possible it would have worked still as a exploitable system. I don't think the blu ray drive is needed for most things people exploit them for. Unless the system errors out because of the faulty disc drive?

I have a PlayStation 4 Pro...and it has gone into safe mode .I have tried everything possible except a new hard drive for it...I also tried buying a new USB stick and putting a file onto it then plugging it into ps4 and tried to load the file that didn't work either.....what would you suggest except getting a hammer to it lol

Yeah power supplies can hold charge for a very long time, and if you touch the wrong place it can give you a nasty shock, potentially lethal depending who is working on it

To be honest I'm actually going to end in profit once the star wars sells. I sold the vr for £175 already, the og ps4 for £140 and the star wars I've had a lot of interest at £245 so I should be able to finalise at £200 easily. I've also sold the hard drive from this one for £20 lol. Fuel only cost me about £20 (economical car, astra 1.6 2015 petrol, about 50mpg). Parts I don't generally have a problem selling too and I always need chips from boards 😁
