This is one of my favorite short stories ever. Love Borges and the way he can make a story about any abstract concept

Yes! It’s a great story and I can’t imagine how he came up with ways of exploring what he does!

¡Excelente! A mindblowing text if there ever was one. 😃 Your discussion really does justice to this incredibly complex little story. I loved the approach from both a Christian and Buddhist perspective, and of course the connections with certain schools of philosophy. One of Borges' poems, titled "Ni siquiera soy polvo" ("I Am Not Even Dust"), ends with the line: "Mi Dios, mi soñador, sigue soñándome" ("My God, my dreamer, keep on dreaming me"). As you point out towards the end, in a way this really is a cheat story. There are things only Borges can get away with! What a great companion piece to Cortázar's "La noche boca arriba," right? Thank you so much for this wonderful video!

...A horse or a tiger...I hate it when I get those two things confused. I don't know if this one is in my collection, and I feel like I would remember it if it were. As soon as you mentioned the 'origin of belief' and your description of how Borges relates it to Through the Looking Glass gave me an idea! I need to pick back up my Borges series haha😅 "I think, therefor you are" --Krypto 😅
