Prince crying while he's singing is so iconic. He knew then that it was his life altering moment. I went to see Purple Rain with my Mom when I was 16. During this scene everyone in the theater was waving their hands in the air, including my Mom. I looked over at her and her eyes were welled with tears. My brother, who passed away in 2013 at the age of 16, once told us how underrated Prince was and that Purple Rain was such a masterpiece. So we played it at his funeral and whenever I hear this song, I'm taken back to this time right after we lost him. Being a guitar player and student for around 5 years, I know how difficult is to convey your emotions through your instrument. It takes a pure a master to make the music you think in your head sound the same as the music that comes out from your instrument and prince has done just that in the solo of this song.
