@mortlet51807 жыл бұрын
Ronie Von Varona; Thickness of the plating you want × surface area that you want to plate × density of gold = mass of gold required (Theoretically, each atom that gets plated should be replaced by an atom from the gold electrode, although you wouldn't really want to deplete your plating solution so much, as the plating quality would suffer. It's much better to have such a large excess that the whole plating procedure hardly changes the concentrations of your plating solution's constituent salts).

@drew60177 жыл бұрын
You aren't supposed to wear gloves when working with Nitric acid cause they spontaneously combust if they come into contact with it. Without them you can just wash the acid off your hands.
@collin63747 жыл бұрын
nitric acid isn't as dangerous as you think, I've gotten it on my hand for like 30 seconds all you have to do is wash it off if you feel burning and you will be left with a yellow spot on your hands
@alexanderlansford62126 жыл бұрын
Not having to use gloves? That is completely false. Add in the fact that he’s mixing nitric and hydrochloric, which produces one of the strongest acids, could leave to a horrible disaster. Just a second of Aqua Regia (mixture of those 2 acids) will cause intense burns and leave a very noticeable scar

TheLongestNameEverStartsWith that’s what I was thinking that’s problem why that one cup had to be replated
@owenflaherty75166 жыл бұрын
The surface he placed it on is not dirty in they way that Cody was referring. When electroplating, the surface needs to be clear of oils and "sticky" contaminants, which he cleaned off with the HCl. The surface he then placed them on was only dirty with dry particular "dirt", which are less likely to stick, and even if they did, would be removed when dipped into the electroplating solution.
