Fantastic Video! You saved me from sending back my new ZD420 wireless printer. With the instructions that came with the product , it was confusing and not helpful at all. After reading pages and pages of their pdf instructions , I was still no better off. I am not new to computing , the way they put things together was just not helpful at all. But with just one view of your STEP-BY-STEP video , I was able to set up wireless printing from my iMac with no sweat! Thanks!

Very good instructions video! When I tried to use it for Windows, I did not manage to change the printer port after wifi was configured. Windows could not connect to the printer. However, I added a new printer (skipped the one setup for USB) and connected via IP and then it worked.

Hello! I've run into an issue with adding the new port as in 18:55. My IP adress has a section with three 000. For example: 192.168.000.011 I try without the zeroes but it doesnt work, it says it cant find the device at all on the network. The same message when i enter the complete IP adress. Any suggestions? Hi Eric, thanks so much for the video this really helped me set up with mac os. It works fine but when we finish for the day we shut everything down, then the next day printer is not working and i have to re configure. in printer settings it shows as "in use' so deleted any print jobs pending and still dosnt work If you could help suggest what I can do it would be appreciated.

@@thecollegepicker just got this printer from Ebay and while following your setup I've gotten blinking warning lights for the data (blinking green) and the media roll (blinking red). Obviously, I have paper loaded. Any thoughts? I am looking around online and I see something about a ribbon cartridge. What's that all about in a thermal printer? Thank you for making this video, I can’t tell you how many times it’s helped me out. These things are def not plug and play. For some reason mine defaults to back feed on. It’s printing across two labels. I can navigate my way to turn it off on my Windows based computer but can’t figure out how to get to that setting on a newly acquired Mac. I even checked the CUPS settings. Do you have any advice? Also wondering if you have a patreon page.

Hi I don't have the Graphics tab in the preferences on windows, instead I have dithering tab, but setting it to none still leaves me with a bit glitchy quality, it's not as bad as your before but also not as good as your after. Or it's because I print from .png? Though that .png seems to be good quality and resolution and if no processing is applied it should print sharp. Also to rule out hardware issues, anything else like setup label or windows test labels print sharp.

Any photo format isnt good for barcodes or so. Try to change it to .PDF

@@Arek_R. What driver did you choose? The Zebra driver or the Seagull driver? Are you using the ZD420? When you print a label, do you open it in a PDF reader (ex Adobe acrobat reader DC), that sometimes helps

Is it possible to print over BT with an Android phone? I tried numerous apps, but non of them are able to print a label over BT. They all won't connect to or detect the printer. It's connected to a network via a cable, and I have the IP adress. I am not able to install drivers though since I don't have admin access on that computer. However, we use a third party programm to create steering samples and that prints labels with the sample info on it, so I'm not sure how they do that. When I try to add the printer via the config screen I can't find it either, that's why I tried to print via my phone so I also can print custom labels, but so far without succes. Does anyone have a solution for this? Thanks. :D

@@thecollegepicker got it working using another app, for those struggling with iOS: 1) Download Printer Setup app from Zebra, use to enter your Wifi settings in Connectivity and get the printer on wifi (bluetooth is slow, can't upload large files) be sure to give a hostname for the printer(leaving it at the default # did not allow me to see it in OS X). 2) Download latest firmware and LinkOS files from Zebra's support/downloads for ZD420 3) I loaded the LinkOS update first and reset printer. Then loaded the firmware and the printer began the firmware update on its own and will restart on its own. 4) You should be able to see the updated firmware # using info button in the app, upper right corner. 5) Follow OS X wireless instructions in this video to add the printer, share the printer on your network. 6) I used Printer Pro app ($6) to discover the Zebra printer and print from my iPhone. Seem like iOS should still recognize this printer via the sharing feature, this was on Catalina, so maybe it has been fixed in BigSur. *whenever I try to change "Type of transfer" option from thermal transfer to direct thermal it breaks the printer and it stops responding until you set the option back to thermal transfer. Next I'll try printing directly from eBay. The year is 2020 and we still have to deal with printer drivers.

I’ve been wanting to get a label printer for my small business for the longest time and finally pulled the trigger. I’m glad I did ! It’s less than 1/4 the size of my regular printer.Set up was fairly easy. Seller will email you a link with video instructions Which I found to be more helpful than the written instructions. I use a Mac and had no issues. They even included an adaptor for USB to USB-c which is great because I’m always losing mine! I had a few issues getting the labels to print properly and wasted quite a few sheets. You need to play around with the settings to get everything adjusted just right. If you have the wrong settings, it’ll crop off the edges or feed through blank labels. These aren’t issues with the machine though, just user error.

I ditched the "print preview" for Chrome/MBP via terminal. You can't trust the print preview and it just slows things down anyway. It's amazing how many hoops you have to jump through just to use an f'ing Zebra. But once you get it right it's awesome. Time to recycle a bunch of misprinted paper...

Printing with this app on android does not work. App and printer freezes. No response from customer service. Apps are not updated like the older ones. Adding the printer without the app on android does not work. So pc is the only option. If I knew about all this hazzle I would have bought a Brother printer or some other brand.
