The funny part is that Eddie literally dealt infinite damage in that last turn. He had infinite life gain, so each one of his creatures had infinite power and toughness, as well as trample. Brutal

I'm very much a proponent of Volo being kill on sight and I think this game is a very good example of why. Cool commander but it absolutely just runs away with games if it's given even a smidge of space to breathe

Mitch!! Built the Codie deck. Loving it, but I kept having one problem; not getting 1 cmc’s or graveyard recycle in hand, then my Codie stalls out. I wanna know if you’ve ever thought of doing this: I added Profane Tutor as a Golden Pig #2 for that deck to keep the play going. Then (and this is great) I use Voltaic Key/Manifold Key to get 2 activations of Codie to bring out both Golden Pigs in one turn. (I used Turn to Mist to cast a Key around Codie). What do you think?

The betrail actually cannot be cast until the main phase when you have priority, codie only allows you to cast it this turn without paying its mana cost

Codie exiles cards, and cards exiles cannot be suspended from hand, they are in exile already. I don’t think suspend works with Codie at all (Same for Prosper)

@@timothyswartz8802 It works like Cascade, which can hit suspend only cards and cast them for zero. It's pretty busted. There are Turn 1 win codie decks in CEDH and some interesting modern decks built around this. The card's CMC is effectively zero. Suspend is an (activated?) ability. The card is not cast until the last time counter is removed.

@@timothyswartz8802 Codie's effect gives an alternate mana cost which is without paying, so no cmc card can be cast for free. Prosper just exiles and don't give alternate mana cost, so the exiled suspend cards can't be played.

Great game guys. Eddie could’ve won the turn before also. With your defender dork, itlimoc & 3 untapped lands, here’s the path -> Tap itlimoc for 14 green 7 green for zendikar resurgent 4 to bounce both battlements back to hand 2 for lightning greaves With 1 green floating add two green with an untapped land -> cast battlement dork dude Create 3 more battlements -> slap lightning greaves on for 4 green 2 to bounce 2 to cast -> infinite draw with zendikar resurgent End loop with deck in hand And 4 battlements Slap Greaves on all 4 for 16 green mana Use 8 to bounce all copies Tap 2 lands to cast spark double as copy of olo Cast battlement defender dork dude make 5 copies Repeat loop of bouncing, slapping greaves, tapping for now 5 netting 1 each Infinite mana Now do what ya did the last turn champ GG I need a nap.

At 20:45 Artificial Evolution targeting Cloudpost. I believe it’s not a legal target since Cloudpost is not a creature. Locus is a land type not a creature type. Also, Glamerdye used on Cloudpost. I don’t see how it’s a legal target either. Cloudpost has no color text to change. In Gatherer rules text, Glamerdye cannot change mana symbols. Am I right or am I missing something?

I was lost on that play as well. I checked Artificial Evolution rulings, says "Can target a card with no appropriate words on it, or even one with no words at all." On Glamerdye they ask "which colour are you choosing" and he responds with "blue" when targeting the Cloudpost. But in the immediate next turn says "Tapping Cloudpost for three colourless". Never actual says "Replace red with blue" or "replace colourless with blue". I don't think any creature (or land) types were changed, or any colour text was changed. He just wanted the three target triggers to copy the Cloudpost twice and Island once.

47:22 the progenitor mimic copying spark double in the battlefield don't enter with counters because the spark double is already in the battlefield as a copy of volo and volo dosen't have the ability of enters with a counter, spark double has that ability only in the stack

@@MattTorres Only changelings have every creature type. All Changelings are shapeshifters, but not all Shapeshifters are Changelings. Orvar for instance is a Changeling (every creature type), and the Shapeshifter text on the card is mainly for flavour. Hopefully that makes sense : )

@@tauntdragoon no, because the ability of progenitor mimic said "At the beginning of your upkeep, if this creature isn’t a token, create a token that’s a copy of this creature" so no matter how many progenitor mimic you have, only the nontokens creates tokens

One thing to note, if a card says you may cast it until end of turn like codie does you have to follow the casting times, inevitable betrayal is a sorcery.

Cast Battlement, trigger both Volos and Spark Double Volos, making 2 copies of Battlement Equip Greaves to each Battlement and tap them for 9 total mana Pay 4 to bounce the tokens to oblivion Pay 2 to bounce OG Battlement to hand. Repeat This draws the deck with Zendikar Resurgent triggers.

Simic has some good Discard outlets, Mind Over Matter is one of the best discard outlets ever printed, limited only by the difficulty in getting it out. You can also run stuff like Wild Mongrel or Soratami Cloudskater. For opponent's hands, Green and Blue both have some hand-hate, Green can put cards back on top of the library with stuff like Stunted Growth, Blue has Amnesia and the like. You might need to replay the same card a few times to do what you want, but Simic can also recycle it's graveyard nicely (or anyone's for that matter), win via non-combat damage or life loss, mill, and various 'on-the-spot' methods, Simic has crazy versatility that way.

36:00 So Eddie had Greaves in his hand?? I think this goes infinite: Activate Sabertooth to bounce both Overgrown Battlements (the token will just die). Cast it again, trigger Volo and both Spark Double Volos to make 3 copies. All of that costs 6 mana. Greaves lets you tap each one for a total of 16 mana. 8 Mana will bounce the three tokens to to oblivion and the OG to hand. Recast for 2, tap for 16, bounce for 8, recast for 2, tap for 16, bounce for 8, etc. Then you can bounce whatever you want to recast and draw the deck with Zendikar Resurgent. I especially like Spark Double here because you can make infinite Volos with it if I'm not mistaken. Any mass haste enabler now lets you win in combat, but there's likely a noncombat win somewhere in the deck

I'm confused, Codie says when you cast an instant or sorcery card, you exile cards from the top of your library until you exile an instant or sorcery card with lesser mana value. Since you have no 0 cmc instants or sorceries in the deck then won't Codie's triggered ability fail to find? Thus having you exile your entire deck?
