Something worth noting, in order to “fizzle” a spell with multiple targets, you have to make ALL of its targets become illegal. Sacrificing one of the targets will still have the spell resolve with each of its remaining legal targets.

But with Curse of Swine, it would fizzle if you get rid of one target, because it's not a modal spell, and it doesn't say "up to X creatures"

@@joedoe7572 608.2b says, basically, that the spell will do as much as possible and will simply have no effect on the targets that have become illegal since the spell or ability was put onto the stack.

@@connorl0204 that would be true if it had the option to resolve without that target. But a spell like Curse of the Swine doesn't have that option, as it specifies a specific number, so it's all-or-nothing. It will either exile X targets, or it won't exile any of them. If part of its resolution can't resolve, that part will fizzle; in this case (a non-modal spell), that's the whole spell

Comprehensive Rules 608.2b: If the spell or ability specifies targets, it checks whether the targets are still legal. A target that’s no longer in the zone it was in when it was targeted is illegal. Other changes to the game state may cause a target to no longer be legal; for example, its characteristics may have changed or an effect may have changed the text of the spell. If the source of an ability has left the zone it was in, its last known information is used during this process. If all its targets, for every instance of the word “target,” are now illegal, the spell or ability doesn’t resolve. It’s removed from the stack and, if it’s a spell, put into its owner’s graveyard. *******Otherwise, the spell or ability will resolve normally. Illegal targets, if any, won’t be affected by parts of a resolving spell’s effect for which they’re illegal.***** Other parts of the effect for which those targets are not illegal may still affect them. If the spell or ability creates any continuous effects that affect game rules (see rule 613.10), those effects don’t apply to illegal targets. If part of the effect requires information about an illegal target, it fails to determine any such information. Any part of the effect that requires that information won’t happen.

He can't, because once the pod activation is being resolved, there is no change of priority until the effect puts the creature into play. And as soon as elesh norn enters, the game will see the Remorsful Cleric a 0 Toughness, "killing" it in a spot. There is no trigger, to which he could sac the Cleric, until after Elseh Norn is fully resolved and StateBase Effects are checked.

This entire match was full of references of classics and at the same time Game of Thrones. It was an incredible watch. Seeing everything unfold on the edge of my seat not knowing what's going to happen next. Definitely did not see the plot twist coming at the end with rofry on top. 10/10 episode!

That was a good comeback. I don’t make deals because this is a prime example of why a player can comeback even at 2 life. The guy playing Tuvasi had a few opportunities to kill mitch and it came back to haunt him later.

Question, when Alec played the Ondo Inversion, Eric also had Kestia get destroyed. But it had a snake umbra attached to it, right? Shouldn't the totem armor have protected her? Also why didn't Eric attack Mitch with the bird and Danitha on that turn before the mob rule? He could've swung the sentinel and the sanctum weaver at Alec and then attached the aura onto one of the things attacking Alec. Yeah there is a chance Mitch had some interaction in his hand but at that point he might as well have gone for it rather than giving Mitch another turn

I've yet to see a Noyan Dar deck do well. Mitch's deck seemed to be a little all over the place, feels like more focus on threaten and sac and less on wheels and looting would have been better.

Is there a video on this channel that explains why Mitch is budget to such an extreme? I call it “extreme” because sol ring is less than a quarter over a dollar, and he doesn’t play it, despite every commander deck coming with one. I’ve watched for a while and I don’t remember this being explained.

It’s just his rules, all cards have to be under a dollar, very rarely will he add a generally unneeded card to his decks.

9:00 which is why you NEVER play mill cards unless you are a dedicated mill deck or you wait to play that card right before you combo out and mill everyone's entire deck. Filling opponent's graveyards is never a good idea

Arixmethes should've been a creature when Ondu Inversion happened. The slumber counters go away on all spells. In the game, they only went away on non-creature spells

removing the counters is a may effect on your spells, so technically he can choose to not remove them on creature spells.

No, it does not, because it was under the control of it's owner at the beginning of the turn, it became a creatur. It is irrelevant, if it was a different permanent type then, because it is still the same permanent.
