Millicent is the only ranking I would change. For a tribe that desperately needed a commander, she provides value in the Spirits she can make, the cost-reduction, and the board-wipe protection. She is in my A tier.

I definitely agree. Does everything spirits care about. Makes a wide board, protects from removal, reduces her own mana cost after a sweeper. She’s very powerful in the right deck. A tier sounds right!

Toxrill is probably the strongest or one of the strongest commanders that released this amd last year. Proliferation and sludge monster makes him board wipe every turn and with enough protection the entire game is in your hands to win

i think olivia should not be where she is, she indeed have a good triggered ability, but 6 mana in rakdos, for a casual deck will definetely problems to work. i would put her on C class.

Just a heads-up, Kamber is actually misprinted. The oracle text, which is correctly printed on the extended art version, says "whenever a creature AN OPPONENT CONTROLS dies," not just any creature. So it's actually significantly weaker than it looks on the card. Probably still not so weak to slot in the D tier but worth noting.

I was planning on building Olivia as more of an ETB deck with big ETB effects, ways to make stuff come back when it dies, and ways to reanimate things. Olivia would essentially just be there to reanimate things on demand

I think you are wildly underestimating Strefan, he's easily my strongest commander. Not only are there a bunch of large vampires that are amazing to cheat out (playing a patron of the vein for free on turn 3-5 usually puts you in a huge advantage), include a couple ways to guarantee damage on each player and ways to weaponize the blood like ghirapur aethergrid or reckless fireweaver and you'll be doing tons of chip damage on top of your powerful vampire board. I definitely think he's stronger than Groom Edgar or Anje as a vamp tribal commander.

I feel like Rhonda and Timmin are better than people think as Stax Commanders. Timmin taps down the opponent boards on their turns, but doesn't need to attack or be tapped/untapped to work. Rhonda gains the counters and can swing in without being impacted by the stax pieces in U/W. You play things like Verity Circle, Archon of Emeria, Static Orb, etc. and keep your opponents limited to one spell a turn, Timmin makes their creature spells irrelevant, and Rhonda swings without being slowed down by the Stax.

One of only upsides I've found for Oderic is since it has white, you have access to cards like Ephemerate and Felidar Guardian. You can flicker him to spam that etb to create blood tokens and use them for. Something. Atogs maybe? Red has some uses for artifacts for direct damage. Whatever deck Oderic is at the helm of is going to be full of jank to make it work lol.

Just one small note concerning Odric: That last snetence is in reminder text, not rules text. The ability would need to be completely reworded if it woud be supposed to allow mechanics to count twice (or more) - and the most common alternative would suddenly instead not be able to count a creature with two keywords twice instead. Not sure if there even exists a single example of a card working the way you suggest - and I'm pretty sure a card like this would be even wordier than Odric. None of this changes the fact that Odric is a design train wreck, of course ;)

I run Runo. He's an absolute monster. Pro Runo Tip: don't lean too hard into sea monsters. Use the sea monsters with strong ETBs and anything else with strong ETBs. Also buried alive/reanimate stuff. Finish it off with anything that makes non legendary clones as non legendary copies of Runo make infinite copies of themselves. 🤤

The intros on this channel went from 10 seconds to 30 seconds to Mitch discovering blaming things on Eddie and somehow adding another minute and 30 seconds. I actually like that they're putting "only once each turn" on so many legendary creatures now. With 2-5 commander decks coming out in every set, can you imagine how much the format would be warped if all of those were Korvold, Chulane or even just Edgar Markov level powerful? All of these would be completely fair if they had that clause btw. I prefer that most of the new commanders suck a bit, especially when we still got half a dozen strong and interesting ones to build around here.

Eruth gets even better. If you blink it before the end of the turn, the next time you play it you get access to all the cards exiled the turn it was blinked. As the end of the turn effect never triggered they are still useable!!!

I feel that we look at some of these cards that are legendary and are like these are crap commanders but some of the lower tiers besides D and some in B tier should be looked at as what they can do in the 99. I've seen what some of them can do and how they combo off from playing on spelltable even the precon decks are stronger than some of the precons that I have and also edited to make them better.

I would have probably done Katilda as C as while another big beater commander is pretty boring for white, I personally think the color is actually pretty solid in its Enchantress department and Katilda works as a “passable” payoff you can have in the command zone

I agree with most but there is one that I feel you got very wrong: Millicent. You complain about donal being one mana colour and yet you put him in the same tier as millicent? Millicent also creates more tokens more easily as flyers land more damage, is a flyer herself AND is a spirit so better synergy for a spirit deck. The copy thing is what makes donal very cool so he's about as good as millicent. But on top of that, the commander tax for millicent often is insignificant. And then on top of that, some board wipes eliminate non tokens only which means that you save your tokens AND, if you have millicent in play, when your creatures are destroyed, you get to create spirit tokens. You are also decreasing the number of anthem +1/+1 cards like drogskol captain you can play, which greatly diminishes the impact of a tribal deck for example. And the disturb cards have great synergy like katilda who is a white spirit with lifelink, flying and gets power and toughness equal to number of spirits I think. Which is sick.

If I'm being completely honest, I think Umbris should've been in s tier, more or less because it's an etb ability, you have access to a whole heap of cards that can BREAK that, imagine just using reflections of littjara and panharmonicon... 4 etb exile triggers per nightmare/horror if you're running the standard 33 lands-ish per deck, cast 9 creatures and you exile someone's entire library, and that's if they have it all sitting in their library

Don't talk too much shit of strefan man. Fucking necropolis regent! Attacking and indestructible until end of turn! Additional combats become amazing with him, the blood tokens allow versatility with retrieval abilities or madness abilities, and card draw and loss of life become very handy where they otherwise would just be side effects. I recently have engineered a deck around strefan and I really quite like him so far.

With Old Rutstein being ranked as such, I think his potential is definitely underestimated. Combined with the right shenanigans, he could definitely be a B, if not an A. Edgar, Charmed Groom is definitely D tier or low C tier for me. He just doesn't pull nearly enough weight on his own, and vampires aren't scary enough in orzhov colors. Umbris is a bit of a 'wanted poster' commander, because people hate being milled at a disadvantage. Can be S tier if you're mean and devious enough. Eruth just makes sense because blue can be an absolute monster when paired with red. Izzet is just nuts, and can go totally wild on the board.

I don't get how Eruth makes sense, she is one of the most fragile commanders they have printed in a long time. If your opponent wheels you, and you can't stop it (which is likely since you really don't get a hand ever), you're just in top deck mode. Also if somebody plays drannith or uba mask you are just out of the game.

@@spudster8887 Yeah, Eruth likely has some hard counters. Shoot, a Curse of Exhaustion on the no open blue mana Captain Jhoira artifact player is a one way trip to the no-fun zone. However, she already replaces her own draw, so Uba Mask does nothing to the Eruth player. It says "If you would draw a card **instead**" is what Eruth has. ... Anyway, I did take a trip over to Scryfall, and there's quite a few options to get cards into your hand which don't specifically require you to draw cards rules as written. I looked up "Put into hand" cards, and I found some interesting "stumble upon" cards as well. ... Eruth can run the risk of being a glass cannon, but not so much she would be absolutely crippled by a Drannith Magistrate, and there's stuff out there to make sure her stuff goes through. Someone might go the chaos route as well, or even work with cascade effects. ... Yeah, properly built, Eruth's plans aren't water-tight, but some people are just going to build Eruth for high risk and high reward.

@@dreddbolt I think realistically, you are going to fill that deck with brainstorm like effects, where you can just rip through your whole deck in a turn with storm enablers and then thoracle. Beyond that, it seems better in decks, but i just think the cards pure downside due to its fragility. She is the definition of win early or you're out imo. Also, when i referenced uba mask, that was more in reference to some locks that card enables, which are in similar style to what drannith enables, so it will mess her up pretty significantly if you encounter it.

@@spudster8887 Definitely, and I see a lot of folks eagerly putting all of their eggs into one basket with certain kinds of commanders. I'll also see such with Commander's Quarters brews, which has me thinking about... where's the plan B? ... If I was to build Eruth, I'm definitely of the mind to try to build off of some of the cards in the 99, with the intent of trying a sub-strategy when I can't rely on having Eruth on the board. Even if it takes away from the main strategy's dedication, there are times where I'm just going to need some kind of alternative control until my main strategy can get back on track. ... A big "Plan B" brew for me is Kazarov (Sengir Pureblood), and he requires LOTS of mana. To start things off, he's five generic and two black to get on the field, and his activated ability requires three generic and one red. He definitely isn't getting out any time soon, but I'm going to be doing a whole lot more than just twiddling my thumbs while he sits in the command zone. That, and I'm already rocking a whole bunch of rocks, so I might as well sink the mana from those rocks into other things which damage creatures or benefit from damaging creatures.

You're going to have to jump through so many hoops for a deck that will end up pretty fragile regardless of what you do. I'd rather just build something good personally

your list is alil short. but at this point in time there are so many just brokenly powerful commanders that a once per turn ability on a commander just makes it un playable in anything but low power level play groups.

My personal favourite commander is definitly Toxrill because... IT'S A SLUG! haha! actually, it is my favourite because he has the best colors to protect himself from getting killed: blue counter and give hexproof and shroud and black return from grave until you protect with blue! Even with his high mana cost, his ability his just incredible and paired with spark double or sakashima it gets just too powerful! with some mana artifact you can play it on turn 5 easily and he destroy the board!

Eruth is disgusting. I slapped her in my melek list with minimal tuning, and I’m hitting turn 4s and even the occasional turn 3, without being a full CEDH list. It’s outrageous.

toxrill should be S tier instead of eruth. toxrill warps the battlefield like no other commander i have ever seen, draws you cards and can sacrifice itself.

there are 7 cards with the commander set symbol only to be found in set boosters. similar to the last set, you can get every other new commander card in set boosters as well.
