A woman I worked with tried to do this to me last year. She claimed that while we were both working an overnight shift that I verbally abused her including using racial slurs. The rumor spread like wildfire and within 2 days I was on suspension pending investigation. What she didn't know was that the entire time we interacted on the night she claimed this happened, we were on camera and I was on a recorded call with my husband. That means that I had proof that I had not said or done what she said I had. I was still fired because "optics", but everyone who heard the evidence agreed that there was no way her accusations could be true. I went to a lawyer who told me that defamation is insanely difficult to prove in our state and would be a financially draining endeavor, ending in nothing because this woman was broke asf anyway. 2 weeks after I was fired, the woman who accused me killed her boyfriend and tried to clean up the murder with household cleaning products and is now being held pending trial. Sometimes people are just unhinged.

I've witnessed this happen first hand. A girl in my dorm was accused of saying something racist. She was persecuted by the schools kangaroo courts, forced to take some bullshit sensitivity class and to write some essay. She was also forced to pay a $700 fine. Something similar happened at my college, BYU. At a women's volleyball game, a student from the opposing team claimed that students in the crowd were yelling racial slurs at the opposing team's black students. Of course, it got thrown all over the news and social media. BYU said that it doesn't tolerate racist behavior, and banned the student until it got more evidence. After looking at the video and audio of the game and interviewing fifty people that were there, BYU found no evidence to suggest that students were heckling the other team with racial slurs. They took away the ban, and some news stations reported BYU's findings, but the damage was already done. Some teams have backed away from playing BYU over the issue, even though the claims were proven false. It hurts to see when other people lie and receive little to no backlash, especially when it hurts another person.

She now needs that award yanked from her and see how quickly she changes her tune and runs from the spotlight. She’s the very definition of a narcissist. That’s the true award she needs. You’re not technically an activist if you’re fighting a false fight 🤷‍♀️

I used to be so far left and then I started to open my eyes and see the truth. One thing I have always said though is how blessed we are to have officers that serve us and protect us. I’ve had wonderful encounters with law enforcement and in fact the one time I was treated like absolute crap was by a black officer. That didn’t change my perspective on law enforcement though or black people and even the local police department and city council later apologized for how poorly I was treated by that officer. The exception isn’t the rule and one bad seed is not a representation of an entire community
