May you also show how to find the dot easily with strong hand shooting and support hand shooting?

I recently started my red dot journey with a very poor decision to go cheap. Two broken sights later, I am sending it back for the 3rd time, but, they keep sending a replacement rather than a refund. The good people at ASP have helped me select an alternate optic, so, this drill will be a big help. Thank you, as always.

I'm sure I missed the memo. Why is it ok to put your thumb on top of the slide?

Or don't use a dot. The front sight is always on the end of the slide, so you know where to find it.

My thoughts exactly. For me, a dot has zero value out to about 10 yards. YMMV.

In your presentation of finding the dot, I feel you are not on target. I am not a pro or have ever been in a gun fight, but it seems with with your muzzle up to find the dot you are not on target. I try to draw keeping my muzzle parallel with the ground and on target. As a marry my grip the dot comes in from the bottom as the pistol comes into my sight. If I had to I could get some shots off if the treat was real and be confident in getting accurate hits as the pistol comes to full presentation and the dot is on target. I really liked your video and I am not trying to be critical would love to hear what you have to say

The actual problem with lining up the dot or front sight is the nature of our joints. They only make straight Ines by three joints making circles which is your wrist, elbow, and shoulder. During the eye-level straight press, you are rotating your grip into a compromised position. Since you can not see through the dot until mid-way through the press, there is little advantage to the straight press, but a significant disadvantage to the biomechanics of the arm movement which rotates more naturally down. Having the dot drop from 12 o’clock allows the proper grip to guide the vision instead of the other way around. Many iron sight shooters use the eye-level straight press, but vision can guide the gun into a gross position instead of using our kinesthetic awareness to guide the gun into positioning and then verifying or correcting with vision. I hope this helps, and thanks for commenting!

@@TheCompleteCombatant Yes. I totally understand the point of your video, my primary concern is getting fast and accurate hits. The muzzle up orientation may prevent that, or at least add time. Some would call that "fishing" which most instructors teach to avoid.
@TheCompleteCombatant3 жыл бұрын
@@philipvandercook3541 fishing would be casting in circle above my eye line this a rotation while extending in straight line. It allows the support hand to grip sooner. I have shot A zone hits at 25 yards from the holster in 1.3-1.4., and 7 yards at .8-.9. It is both fast and accurate, but the only way to know is to try it both ways with several months of practice.
