This was a friggin' fantastic episode. Eric mentioned a couple things about Bogle I hadn't ever heard before; I need to pick up 'The Bogle Effect'!

A great one guys! Eric is one of my favorites. I really like his tweets. ETFs are also my favorite type of investments. I bought my first ETF 10 years ago after having been in mutual funds since the late 80's. I'm much happier with my ETF portfolio. Turnover is lower. I know what I'm getting and taxable gains are low. My unrealized gains are out of this world.

Eric sums up my thoughts on custom indexing perfectly. There are some use cases for integrating existing investments, but these feel rare. If a Microsoft employee holds MS shares, they can take a DFA-style value tilt to slightly reduce their broad exposure to large cap growth to offset the correlations with human capital.

Listened to the pod, came here to comment. Have thought the last two weeks have been really good, better than the previous couple months. Not sure what you guys changed, if anything, but my friends have noticed too. Keep up the great work. Also love that you have the new show with Ben!

On the bit about why has US taken up ETF/Indexing (much) more than internationally (about 28:20) - have you considered looking into Australia? They have a retirement system (superannuation) that, similar to 401(k), channels a decent percentage of all paychecks into retirement savings. A good portion of this goes to stocks and as the system has been running for circa 30 years, the Aus population has a very high holdings of stocks. It would be interesting to see how evolution of ETF take up compares with US.

No psychological change on dropped fees with trading. I paid $50 & $7, $7 & free and free & free. Even with those I speak to today. Sometimes you guys on Wall ST just live in the clouds with you speculation! The only thought is the Institutions make way to much & hide much of it!
