33:20 Regarding merging traffic, you actually are supposed to go all the way to the front before you merge, anyone who starts merging earlier is the one slowing down the whole process & disobeying traffic signs. But idk, laws might be different here in Europe. Love the podcast!

You all dislike mergers that go to the front but thats actually the correct way to do it, its called the zipper merge. Its safer and it keeps traffic moving. The problem with everyone trying to get in before the end is the fact cars slow down to try to find entry causing everyone to have to break and cause backups. With light traffic, I will merge early, but with heavy traffic, I always zipper.
@ericj901118 сағат бұрын
Specifically, it's most efficient for everybody to merge at the same point, and how else would you decide what point that would be?

You merge when the lane merges, not before, come on guys.
@chicagomycity18 сағат бұрын
@@jsssm Exactly. You go to the end and take turns with cars in the adjacent lane. Idk why some people view it as rude. It's the safest way to drive and ensures mergers can safely enter the lane without crashes and backed up traffic.

Trading Addiction: how about the adults in the room get vocally anti-YOLO? That single idea (“YOLO!”) is one of the dumbest things affecting people’s decision making today. You have to take risks in life, but Yoloing your way through the year is an adolescent mindset. And next thing you know you have an addiction and are broke.

Zipper merging is faster for everyone. If you don't use all the lanes you are part of the problem. Colorado even has billboards trying to get people to do it correctly to speed everyone up.

47:40 this requires much more verification. There are a lot of statistical tricks you can do to make the numbers look great. E.g. when Tesla claimed autopilot was safer than human drivers, they compared highway driving in optimal conditions vs all driving for humans. So if autopilot didn't know what to do, asked human to take over and this caused a crash, that would be counted as autopilot crash since human took over. Given that driving highway is in general easier than in the city, no wonder it appeared safer.

Great recommendations segment!! Completely agree with Ben on "Underneath the Tree" getting the classic treatment. (Still a slow burn overall, but definitely in my personal Xmas classics list). And yes, ban the "not on my bingo card" remark from 2025 onward. It's been overdone. And there will be an endless supply of bs that we didn't have "on bingo card" starting next year.

The way i see it, The danger of direct indexing is you have no idea if or when those big companies will drop. I remember in 2018 when Apple became the first 1 trillion dollar company. I also remeber thinking well thats crazy but they're so big now they'll never hit 2 trillion dollars. Welp... As of this writing, Apple is 6 dollar per share price apppreciation away from being a 4 trillion dollar market cap. Thats why i think that write in questions logic is flawed.

Bruce Willis, lol... about Ben's tweet I think what's changed is the consistently high ROIC of most of the mag 7 is justifying their P/E and a sea of low ROIC companies in comparison has no draw, even if P/E is low. Who has quantified what the right P/E is based on ROIC? Nobody, so people just go with growth

I find the phrase "didn't see that on our Bingo card!" is tired and worn out: 5 updated alternatives? Here are 5 fresh alternatives to express surprise at unexpected events: "That's a plot twist I never scripted" "Well, the universe just threw us a curveball" "That's certainly not in the usual playbook" "Whoever's writing this timeline has a wild imagination" "That just rewrote all my predictions" I focused on phrases that capture the same sense of surprise while avoiding the overused bingo metaphor. Would you like me to explore any other variations or tones?

I heard Michael Sailor speak a few times and thought he seemed intelligent. I purchased 10 shares in 2022; the internet now says Ponzi, scam artist, etc... I sold my initial investment. Why would I listen to nameless people on the internet? Maybe he's right, perhaps he's wrong, but isn't the point of investing to place your money in places that are outside normal realms of thinking to get outsized returns.
