I love CZ pistols. I carry either the CZ P 01 or the P 09. I’ll have the P 10C soon. I’ve had the CZ 75D as well. They’re all great shooting guns. The Shadow 2 is out of my price range right now, but I hope to have one in the future. CZ triggers are fantastic straight out of the box. Walther is the only other manufacturer that has great triggers right from the factory. You can’t go wrong with a CZ!!

For people who don’t like 1911 style condition 1 carry w a safety. You want to carry this quarter cocked for the DA pull without the hammer resting on the firing pin. Without modding to an extended firing pin is a moot point. People say it isn’t safe without a fpb because of the s2 incident. It’s already been proven multiple times the extended fp is the only reason that happened.
@M1911jln10 ай бұрын
You are missing one potential AD scenario. The only thing that keeps the firing pin off the primer is the firing pin spring. The force required to compress that spring is fixed. If you drop the gun onto a hard surface on its muzzle, the gun will stop but the inertia of the firing pin will make the firing pin want to keep going. The higher the drop, the higher the speed of the gun, and the more inertia the firing pin will have. So at some point, a high enough drop onto the muzzle will result in the gun discharging. This is the same exact vulnerability that a 70 series 1911 has. Gunsmith Hilton Yam tested this by creating a fixture that allowed him to drop a 1911 on its muzzle onto a concrete floor. He loaded the gun with a primed case and a magazine full of dummy rounds. He found that a drop of less than 5’ resulted in a discharge. We don’t know how large a drop would be required for a CZ Shadow to discharge, but based on simple physics and the design of the gun it is unquestionable that it has this same vulnerability. Note, I’m not saying that the CZ Shadow 2 and Compact are unsafe. I own a Shadow 2 and have competed with it. I own and have carried 70 Series 1911s for many years. But we need to stop whistling past the graveyard and honestly consider the vulnerabilities of each design. There are good reasons why most modern handgun designs have firing pin blocks. If we are going to own and use handguns without firing pin blocks then we MUST honestly discuss their vulnerabilities.
@damonspinelli135210 ай бұрын
Sorry, but without an extended safety, unless you are taller than 15ft this simply will not happen. I’ve drop tested my own s2c through a tube onto the muzzle and straight into the hammer without even a mark on the primer. Watch the smith who put it into a vice and literally smacked it with a literal hammer. Too much internet theoreocraft not enough real life testing. Unmodified it’s perfectly safe. Same with 1911’s.
@M1911jln10 ай бұрын
@@damonspinelli1352 This is basic physics. The strength of the firing pin spring is fixed. The inertia of the firing pin is proportional to the height of the drop -- the higher the drop, the higher the inertia. So all you have to do is keep increasing the height of the drop until the inertia of the firing pin overcomes the strength of the spring. This is basic, college-level Physics 101. 2) This isn't just some theoretical argument. Gunsmith Hilton Yam (the guy behind 10-8 Performance) built a test fixture to drop a 1911 onto its muzzle. He found that a Series 70 dropped onto its muzzle would discharge when dropped less than 5'. 3) The extended safety has nothing to do with this. The safety doesn't block the firing pin from moving, so it isn't germane to this type of accidental discharge. The only three things involved in this type of discharge are a) the strength of the firing pin retaining spring, b) the weight of the firing pin, and c) the height of the drop.

You typed all that for what? I can repeat what I’ve already said but I’m not trying to be redundant like you.

@@M1911jlnfor 1 if you drop the gun on the muzzle in that way and it dose go off the muzzle is pointed at the ground. AR’s use a free float firing pin and do not have a spring to hold it in place the firing pin of an AR also weighs more. Ever hear of one going off when dropped on the muzzle? Me either. Correct me if I’m wrong but only series 80 1911’s have fpb. Modern 70 series have a spring to hold the pin back just like the shadow 2 and those are not a problem. Why is it that some 1911’s and rifles can have a floating firing pin but for some reason it’s bad in this case?

I’ve brought mine to my club and let others try it there. There’s been no issues or complaints. Everyone has liked it. I’m not one for bigger magazines as I feel the extra weight unbalances pistols. Making the muzzle rise more. But this compact is real nice. I’m wondering if Biden put a hold on overseas magazines and parts.(?) I heard something about that awhile back. It sounds like something he would do and it would take SCOTUS to stop him so it might last till he’s gone.

I’ve had my shadow 2 compact only 4 days and put just over a 1,000 rounds through it already. My only complaint is they did not round off the corners underneath the beavertail quite like they do on the full-size. Shooting that much in a short period of time has given my a hot stop in the web of my hand. Not sure why they didn’t mimic the full size. It’s a subtle difference, but you can definitely feel it in the hand when shooting lots of rounds

If your finger is in the trigger guard, it's because you ARE shooting, not because you are THINKING about shooting. As for the decocking, you simply use your support hand to cover the pin, and then let the hammer down gently. I tested this with a SP01, and it works just fine.
