Thank you for discovering Angelina. She is well worth every microsecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on KZbin, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she con convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. Angelina was 9 years and 2 months old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted. (g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song. (h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time. (i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and tighter one to close the word (j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. (k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying. Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

I'm as much of an Angelina fan as anyone, having first heard her when she was 10. And I have to admit that there are some reactors I can't take for a variety of reasons. What I won't do, however, is try to dictate what a reactor should or should not do, which is self-defeating in my opinion. I understand that those who criticise do it from a good place but changing a reactor's personality, which is what I feel like I just observed, should not be what it's about. Some reactors come to the realisation on their own that being themselves is counter-productive to their popularity. That's fine. Others, who were being what they thought they should be, eventually profit from being themselves. Some fake it because that's what works for them. I don't care much what anyone does if they are bringing attention to, in this case, Angelina. I feel satisfaction bordering on delight every time I believe a new reactor is genuinely pleasantly surprised by her undoubted talent but I would not dream of telling someone off because they don't act the way I want them to. I watch reactors to see real reactions, which is why it almost grieved me to witness this contrite, almost penitent . . . review (since it must be hard to react while gagged and bound). It's your channel, so do you. If you decide it's better to be someone other than you, let it be on your terms. Admittedly, some won't want to see it but nobody is forcing them.

That is her own band, hired after winning Norway's Got Talent at age 8. She wanted on the show at 5 but the show has a minimum age of 7. At the same time she hired that band, she hired two young men to accompany her on the guitar. Many covers feature them with Angelina. After the win on NGT, her Dad's brother, Michael Astar, became and still is her agent and manager. She has always arranged her own music. That artistic freedom has been maintained in her contract with Republic Records. She is not being actively promoted as she needs to finish her schooling and be sufficiently mature to endure the pressures of the recording industry. The time when she is promoted will be determined by Angelina and her family. Today, January 10th, 2023 is her 17th birthday. Happy Birthday Barefoot Princess of a thousand voices! All performances went viral and she was declared a "National Treasure" in Norway shortly afterwards.

Pausing and reacting is perfectly fine. This is a reaction channel and most of the viewers have seen these clips multiple times. But at the same time we want the reactor to have the full experience of Angelina's music. If your do pause make sure you wind it back some before you continue to listen so you don't miss the context of a critical change. Nothing is more irritating than stopping a song at a dramatic point and totally losing the build up when they return to the song.

Sir, Angelina Jordan (AJ) wrote a song about her family protecting her. "Shield" should be seen the Skavlan show, where she sang liv. Do youself a favor, watch the interview first. In the beginning they talk in Norwegian, but AJ asks them to do it in English so her fans understand what they were talking about, and the host complied. She was asked if she felt like 12 and she answered"only when I look into my passport" and smiled. Her mind is at least 20 to 30 years older than her body. You stay safe and sound. Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity. It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne-type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). If you haven't you must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). Just to be clear though, I’m not subscribing because of your reaction to Angelina, I’ve watched many reactions to her music and subscribed to barely a couple. I’m subscribing because of your style and the way you interact with your audience and actually respond, both verbally and in comments, to your viewers. There is nothing worse (in my opinion) than a reactor who starts every video with a welcome message to their KZbin ‘family’, but actually never responds to their comments. Communication is a 2 way street, if the reactor isn’t responding back, then what they actually have is a KZbin audience, not a family. Another voice you should NOT miss is that of Russian teen Diana (dee-AH-na) Ankudinova (an-ku-DEE-no-vah), the "Queen of Goosebumps". Her voice is totally unique and she has masterful stage presence living the music. The best intro to her is probably her "Wicked Game" cover. Just make sure you are seated first. Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in eight billion.

Hello again, and thanks a lot for an absolute top notch 2nd reaction to Angelina. I'd say you're off to a really good start 🙂 And as you have come to understand, she has a very big and VERY dedicated fan base for sure. From time to time (but very rarely) I have seen comments to reactors that have thrown me off a little, but I guess it's to be expected when you have such a diverse group of human beings REALLY burning for something/someone. But also be aware that there unfortunately are a few (luckily mostly easily recognizable though) "trolls" in her commentary sections, trying to spew disharmony and grudge. Sometimes very blatantly disrespectful and off topic tbh. But the VAST majority is just such a loving and caring group of fans that wants nothing but the best for you, Angelina and the world. Many people were not like that before they encountered Angelina, per their own descriptions, but Angelina does something to you through her music, not gonna lie. She just has this almost super human ability to communicate any song to you, almost on a soul-to-soul basis. This is very hard to describe, but something that all of her fans have experienced at some stage. And I think that you will to. And when she's under your skin and system, there is absolutely no way to de-Angelinafy you, if you so wanted 😅 She is quite addictive that way. And I actually believe in that. It's just something in her voice and tonality that penetrates deep into your heart and soul, a most beautiful sensation, and one that you want your "shot" of on a regular basis. Great reaction! She will definitely open the door for you in regards to types and styles of music. She listens to music from the 50's and 60's as well as today's music to help her with inspiration and sound. When she covers a song, she also helps the original artist because there have been many times when a reactor has not heard the original song and artist. She makes you want to look at other artists because of her music choices. I'm 52 years old and this young lady to me is the best singer/artist today! She hits all kinds of emotions and it never gets old when you listen to her. It's not very often when we get to witness the growth of a superstar right in front of our eyes! She's the real deal!

I see it in your face, How is this possible. We've all been there. Angelina is the youngest Norwegian citizen to have written a book and have it published. She was nine when she wrote her book. She speaks four languages. She plays four instruments and she wrote and recorded four of her original songs by the time she was twelve years old. She has a catalogue of approximately 180 original and cover songs. Angelina signed with Republic Records in August of 2020. She released her original song, “Million Miles” in November of 2020. It was her debut single with R.R. R.R. and Angelina will be releasing her debut album later this year. I suspect it will be after she graduates high school.

When Angelina covers a song, she is in charge of the arrangement, and strives to pay homage to the original artist yet make the song her own. This particular song as others have mentioned is a tribute to Screaming Jay Hawkins. This is Angelina at around 6 years old in a recording studio for the first time, when watching note she is reading and singing in English which is not her native language. Remember to turn on the CC so you can catch the engineers comments at the end where he points out she did good for her first time. I love this video as she still has a bit of a child in her still, as you will see when she hits a note in the beginning. Keep up the Angelina reactions, one thing her fans love is the look of wonder on new viewers of Angelina. I love this performance so much. As they say AJ don't play. We get the most stunning, amazing performance of a 9 yr old of this Jazz standard ever created. I believe it is going to go down in Jazz & Music history as the best ever for this age and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever created Screamin Jay included. It will be revisited for Decades and will remain relevant for Generations to come. Anyone who discovers this performance for the first time today or a 100 years from today are going to be as amazed and astounded as everybody has been to this point. Think of the children who will be inspired by this one performance in the decades to come. This is an Iconic performance and will always be Iconic. Angelina has on her own from early on at 6 or 7 yrs old reintroduced what I believe will be a whole new Jazz Era and redefined by this young phenom and prodigy. That is astounding! And she is just 16 years old... That is unfathomable. She has already established her proficiency and incredible work ethic in this endeavor guided by an incredible family and professional support now surrounding her. We know Angelina will continue to amaze! We will be here to experience and cherish it for as long as we live.... and I am praying for many more years for myself to enjoy it till the end of my days... Ya she not only has the musically understanding but she is a musical channel. Theres some Billy Holiday, Amy Winehouse, and in the end it's got a Marlina Detrick element when she sings .... "I dont care if you don;t want me." Like she's 42 years old in a small dimly lit bar in Germany wearing stockings, heals and long gloves, dressed like its 1949 and smoking a cergarette from a cigerate holder. Absolutly amazing. I think my comment might have been removed because I included a link to a very recent tiktok of Angelina singing in an underground car park with her Grandma Mery... it was to illustrate the way that her family, despite having heard her sing thousands of times throughout her life, STILL react with awe to her voice... You might be able to find it without my including the link. This was also demonstrated at her live concerts in July, where her mother Sara was in the audience dancing and loving the experience.... Highly recommended ! She has - as you will learn - an amazing family who provide wonderful protection and support...

AJ is 17 tomorrow. It is worth going over to any of her channels and wishing her a happy 17th Birthday. Look for AJ doing Etta James (I'd rather go blind') or her version of ('How Great Thou Art'). She will amaze you with her covers and her originals. All of her 4 performances for Norway's Got Talent and Her demo for Babay Fuzz ('I'm still holding out for you') which she sang at age 10. Her Adele cover ('Easy on me') and her Elvis cover ('Suspicious Minds') along with her Michael Jackson cover ('Billie Jean') "jazzy version" will put your feet firmly in the AJ catalogue. Finally Million Miles, her lyric version and her studio version. She is a once in a lifetime singer and you will not regret listening to anything she sings or has sung. Her summer concerts in Norway this year are all phenomenal and her invitation to sing at the O2 for Quincy Jones 85th Birthday are not to be missed.

I love the heartfelt response and your willingness to adapt for your viewers. However you should do you as well. I do agree that pausing the video is better than talking over it (mostly because you might miss something important), but don't let anyone bully you into not talking during the video at all. If we want to hear her sing uninterrupted, then we know where her channel is and nothing is stopping us from going and watching her.
