There is an incredible and heartwarming back story as to why Angelina has always performed barefoot since she was six! I'm sure you'll find it in one of the other comments here. This from a 9 year old. Reading her composition (English being her 3rd language) because she changed things around, as she always does. You saw her make some last minute changes and the producer reading them and smiling. He would later say that paper contained "her wishes" as for how the band should play. The musicians fondly refer to her as "The Boss". Could you imagine coming in to the studio to get ready for a session, and in walks this little 9 year old girl. Telling everyone how she would like the arrangement played, and then "that" happens. Imagine going home to your wife and as soon as you walk in, she asks, "Well, how did it go?" You just shake your head and say "You wouldn't believe it unless you were there." The guy on the candle was Screaming Jay Hawkins, the original singer in 1956. The guy on the candle, Screaming Jay Hawkins is the original artist, the version from Hokus Pokus is only a cover. She auditioned for Norways Got Talent at age of 7 and people reacted as gobsmacked as if ET had asked them for their phone number. Angelina is special. In so many ways. You would be doing yourself and your subscribers a huge favor by continuing your journey down the Angelina rabbit hole. As amazing as she is as an artist, and I believe she is the best the world has ever seen, she may be an even better person. You noticed her singing barefoot. When Angelina was 6 years she was traveling with her grandmother in the middle east when she noticed a little girl about her age weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. She talked to the girl for a while and learned the girl was an orphan and was making money to help support her siblings. It was cold and Angelina noticed the girl had no shoes and scars on her feet. Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl, and vowed to never perform with shoes on until all of the world's children had clothes and shoes. Angelina, now 15, has kept that vow while performing all over the world. Angelina won Norway's Got Talent in 2014 at the age of 8. She has raised millions of dollars for children's charities, and recently signed with Republic Record as their highest priority new artist. Angelina is a true music prodigy but blessed with skills unlike any prodigy before her. As talented as Angelina is, she is an even better human being, humble and filled with empathy. Please take the time to read the biography I compiled for my all time favorite musical artist. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman, who has chosen to keep his life private. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age after listening to Whitney Houston on KZbin. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet and married a Japanese man who passed away in 2019. Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farci, English and Japanese. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where she received vocal training starting around age 4. Angelina plays the piano, violin, guitar and flute and also paints. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina asked her mother to enter her in Norway’s Got Talent (NGT) at age 5 but that talent show had a minimum age requirement of 7. Angelina at age 6 and 7 did record a few songs in a recording studio, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. Angelina is blessed with a deep voice with a beautiful rich tone and has always made her sound much older than her age. Many compare her voice to that of Amy Winehouse. Her voice is highly emotional which is very rare for a young girl and some people can’t accept that such a soulful voice can come from someone who has not had enough life experience. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on KZbin went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. On June 27, 2018 Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. Angelina performed on America’s Got Talent The Champions which aired in January 2020. 1. An important thing to remember about AJ is that she owns the rights to everything she sings and with aquired permissions for covers of other singers. 2. She refused to sign for a record deal through AGT and they relented and invited her to sing anyway. 3. She began singing at 18 months and due to her grandmothers influence, she was drawn to and fell in love with jazz and blues music. 4. She has been arranging most, if not all of her music performances since she was 8 years old. 5. Currently in 2022 she still performs barefoot, sews her own clothes, (the cloth is designed by her grandmother) and she stands 6 feet tall at 15 yeats old! 6. Thats crazy the 2 songs/artists i ws thinking of recommending you did the day i ws thinking about recommending them. First not for the weak minded yesterday and now probably one of of the best things that has come out of Norway.. Im Norwegian and as many Norwegians i watched her win Norways got talent when she was 8 years old.. She auditioned when she was 7... This girl is something else.. She olso did America's got talent the champions.. And got 3 place . But there are some talking around it but im not sure if its true but there are people saying that she was supposed to win. But her mom and her didn't want to give away all her music rights and stuff like that (im not familiar with all of the musical terms. But that i know for sure. I read it somewhere and her mom said it.) but dont know if thats the reason she didn't get 1 place.. But she signed with republic records last year so shes doing fine... She did yellow brick road (crazy good) bohemian rhapsody (amazing! She got the golden buzzer from heidi klum) and someone you love by Lewis capadi) And this is all when she was 14. She did i got a spell on you when she was 9 years old and arranged the music.. Like what!? Also one song i want you to hear is million miles away and this is not a cover. This is a song she wrote herself about her grandfather that passed away last year. Although the music video is beautiful with drawing from her grandmother, the live version is better. Imo.. There olso is a clip of her audition for Norways got talent singing gloomy sunday when she ws 7 years old.. And her preforming barefoot is a whole beautiful story in its self.
