I answering my own question about the paste - "In some regions, it's a tradition to paste a powder known as 'din sor pong' on each other during Songkran as a way of wishing good luck. This natural talc has traditionally been used to protect against the sun and is often smeared on faces and vehicles during Songkran."

I went to Chiang Mai 6 years ago during Songkran and it was not fun. I got sick with mono and Epstein Barr, running a 102 degree fever. So, the water festivities was not welcome. I hope to return to Thailand and have fun like you did in the video. I’m glad you are back and enjoying life again. Keep up the great work and thanks again Adam.
