Ixtapa Zihuatanejo is a resort town located on the Pacific Ocean in the state of Guerrero Mexico. Ixtapa was developed by the Mexican Government in the 70s like Cancun, Cabo and Huatulco for the expressed purpose of attracting tourism to this area. Ixtapa is a great place for those looking for a nice beach vacation in Mexico.

Neither had we! I guess it didn’t take off because in the 80s when cancun and cabo were growing a devastating earthquake hit Ixtapa which scared people away so it never grew like the others did.

Playa Linda looks a lot more local. Seems like a great place to go for the day and get a taste of some traditional Mexican dishes outside of your hotel.

Exactly. You know we felt like Ixtapa is a great spot for people who want all the comforts but who also want to dip their toes into seeing what people say is “the real Mexico” you know. You can venture to Zihua or go further Playa Blanca or Barra Potosí. It’s a good jumping off point.

Our favorite destination in Mexico hands down, I am glad to see you guys made it there. Winter months in the pacific northwest are kind of depressing so we get down in Jan-Feb which is a great time to be there. When I was young and single I liked the faster pace in Ixtapa but at this point in my life my wife and I love the slower pace at Playa La Ropa. I should be mad at you guys for spreading our gold mine with your viewers but love ya anyway. Buena vida my friends.

We had our honeymoon in Ixtapa in 1988. It's changed alot since then. Thank you for sharing and bringing back memories. We stayed in Camino Real Westin which had a private beach.

Great video guys. Thanks for sharing Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. We had the opportunity to go there on 2019. We stayed at Las Brisas hotel in Ixtapa a beautiful hotel designed by a famous Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta. I can say that we enjoyed Ixtapa and its modern ambiance, walkable areas, clean streets and beach. At the same time, we loved Zihuatanejo. We went there to eat, shop around and enjoy the beach as well. Definitely, this is a place that you want to visit more not only once.

This is a very nice quiet place, a good option for families. We’ve been there multiple times. During the summer there is a lot of local tourism, in the winter it’s packed with Canadians. Nice video, saw a few new places that we’ll like to explore in our next visit.

Yet another great video, guys. You both always make us feel like your friends. Having dealt with the brutal cobblestone streets of Ajijic and all the broken sidewalks that bike path is amazing! A bike would have been nice to avoid the packed buses in Lakeside but the streets and sidewalks were impossible to ride a bike. Lots of sprained ankles just from walking. Although Ajijic is home to many retired folks from Canada and the US, using a walker or scooter is impossible as well. Anyone using a walker or scooter would love those paved paths in Ixtapa. One of the most interesting places you've taken us to. Gracias.

The town is just set up very well for a nice relaxing holiday. Like Adam said you just walk out of your hotel and everything is right there! No calling cabs - well you can if you want. But it is just a great spot for an easy vacation no stress!

I really miss these mango trees , my grandma used to have that in her yard . Papayas , lemons , guayabas , 2 different kind of mangos , bananas . It was a small paradise in patio in Chiapas ! Now there are 4 houses there ,and no more fruit 😔 the family build houses .

A lady I work with says, "Hola!" to me every morning as she walks in the building and it's an automatic response for me to reply, "Bienvenidos!" The Country Collectors intro on the brain! I like the harbor and the perfectly lined rows of trees and that old, closed restaurant with the UFO dining room and how the newer features like the bike path weave in with older stone-paved areas. Ixtapa has 2 tourist seasons... the Americans and Canadians flock here in the winter months and the Nationals in the summer months for thier vacaciones. Both seasons have a unique quality to them... you guys really should come back between December and March and get a feel for the 'gringo' tourist season too! Glad you are enjoying your stay!

Great tour of ixtapa!! I’ve never been but have always heard great things about Ixtapa. It doesn’t have the popularity that Cancun/Rivera Maya area does but it’s probably a better choice for that like it quieter. We have chartered flights from several Canadian cities that are popular with the both the all inclusive group as well as those that winter down there. Have a great week!

Thank you Adam and Heidi. You kept your promise on uploading this Video today (Sunday). It was worth the wait and we thank you for doing such a great job with the explanation, the tour of the area and the great video footage. Too bad the water was a bit rough today but this is the stormy, rainy season there. Playa Linda is very nice as is the eating Area and local shops inland. Hope you have a chance to go the Island, Isla Ixtapa. Playa Coral is great for snorkeling, Playa Cuachalate is great, but for me Playa Varadera is the best, cause it has little to no wave and the little restaurantes have great food. You two are doing an amazing job in presenting the real Mexico to us, your loyal viewers and we all thank you for doing so. We hope to be going to Ixtapa in mid January for a month to avoid our harsh Canadian winters. We prefer the 24'C to 30'C temperate range in Ixtapa to Winnipeg's -20'C to -36'C freezing weather. In another 6 1/2 months we will soon be reuniting with all our lifelong friends at Holiday Inn, Fontan Resort and Playa Palmar And of course we do plan on taking a few day trips to Zihuatanejo and Isla Ixtapa. You are lucky to be in the place of the megarich!!! I remember about 40 years ago, only the megarich could go there. I suppose it is still the same. This place is for the beautiful people. They don't want the riff-raff there. That is why you don't see vendors in the street there. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

Oh wow. I’m guessing since Airbnb and other room renting apps have come to Ixtapa it is a bit more affordable to say there. But I can see how back 40 years ago it was just the hotels there so you would have to pay a pretty penny for it!

@@TheCountryCollectors Yes, there was no Airbnb. But there were hotels in many different resorts such as Acapulco, Veracruz, Mazatlan, Tamaulipas, puerto villarta, los cabos etc, etc. But Iztapa was known as the *most* exclusive resort in all of Mexico because they offered private villas. Only the megarich could rent one of those villas. They were known as LAS HADAS. Which in Spanish means *the fairies* I don`t know if they still have them. Therefore, every regular Joe, couldn't possibly go to Iztapa, and they went instead to "Acapulquito". Bye

Zihuatanejo - great line from the Shawshank Redemption, lovely place there.. Cool you mixed in houses for sale and rent... Free mango, yes... Golfing looks perfect there... Renting the bikes are a must in those coastal cities. Keep rolling guys :)
