Ed o'neill is the actor, Al Bundy is the character.... Married with children is a show from another age of humanity.. one where we use to understand jokes and we use to have fun in life. I'm pretty sure that if anyone would make a poll on people over 40yo on most beloved characters in old shows, Al Bundy would be at least top 5 in anyone's list.

Every country i ever been to had this on TV lol... and i've been to a few. Sometimes i'd return to a country after a few years and they were still doin reruns. (not every country but most)
@markdecker61903 ай бұрын
Married with Children came out in 1987 and was shown as reruns for years. It was clever, funny and well-acted. The joke was always against poor old Al with his sexist, fat shaming, chauvinist attitudes. The show was kind of a knee-jerk reaction to all of the squeaky clean family oriented shows at the time. It was shown on the brand new Fox network and they needed a hit and MWC fit the bill and got them huge ratings. In fact it ran for 11 seasons and had 259 episodes. But try creating a similar show today on network TV and you'll be banned!

It is still available for watching today. But back then folks had shows they waited for to watch together, rather than watch what you want when you want and every member watching their own thing on their own screen. I was 5 when it started airing and was a big fan, not as big as star trek in those days but we would watch it as a fam after or during dinner 2 days a week (when it aired for us) Back when a fat/blind/black/white/insert type here, joke did not get massive public outcry because forks knew and understood the meaning of jokes. To make you laugh. And reflect on your view of the world. Now folks get offended by everything, not realizing the reason for their offence is not the joke itself.

The show was actually almost cancelled when it first aired. It went so far that congress debated its nature. The thing the show had on its side: most of the actresses (including the one playing Marcy) are comedic actresses who also wrote for the show. They wanted the jokes and often gave lines that were too raunchy even for the show. It would live on, today as there are more raunchier programs out, now.

its likely that " al bundy" sounds familiar to you because of the serial killer "ted bundy". ed oneil (who plays al), is a multi-degree black belt in karate, and he had a tryout with the pittsburgh steelers in the 79s, so, he's a genuine athlete. he and the actress who plays his neighbor marcie, cant stand each other in real life. so, whenever you see those 2 characters insulting each other, its fun to know that they mean every word of it.

Al was always teasing Marcy that she either looked like a boy because she didn't really have a figure, or a chicken because of her skinny chicken legs. Both are actually true though, she took it well!

Carol and Elie. You seem to be enjoying the best of Al Bundy. There is more for you to see and laugh at. Try AL BUNDY BEATS PEOPLE UP. And for more discovered Sam Kinison is your man. His routine on marriage and world hunger will leave you in tears. And lastly, Rodney Dangerfield on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson is a fast routine of punchlines and self-deprecating humor. Rodney is also the man who discovered Sam when he worked at his club Dangerfield's in New York. Just a small warning. Sam was onc3 an evangelical pastor before entering the field of comedy. He passed away in a car accident in 1992. He is missed because like George Carlin, he told the truth in his comedy. Something we could all use a bit of today. Keep going and enjoy.

When this show aired in 1987 people weren't really familiar with the Fox channel yet. Also, there was no censor assigned to the show it's first season. So, they got away with saying and doing alot of stuff that wouldn't fly today.
