My mother is Vietnamese and I was born 4 months after my USA Navy Dad and mother arrived in Texas. I never learned Vietnamese from my mother, or how to sew (she was a tailor) or cook. My mom and I did not get along, and she had a full hysterectomy in 1976 with no hormone therapy. My childhood was a bit stressful, to say the least.
