I drove my factory stock 92 hatch black on black daily for 10 years. Most reliable, fun car I ever had. Only mods were pulleys, flowmaster 40s, cold air intake and no cats. The only time I was ever left at the side of the road was an overheating ignition module. Replaced it with a t bird one that mounts on the fender. Solved. Still there today. I still have the car in storage last 10 years. Can't bring myself to get rid if it. Maybe I'll drag it out in the spring and see if it goes. Who knows. The underhood really is a rats nest from factory. Very true. Cheers.

lots of different reasons to like the foxbody, but the reason people love them is because they handle modification really well. Without the enthusiasts wrenching on these things in the aftermarket; they would have never made it this far. i don't often buy merch but I bought 3 t-shirts the second i saw the design, I have an 85 black hatch

The best Shortblock you can have is what’s in it now. Those blocks are strong and the forged pistons are stronger. Roller cam setup is so hard to beat, you need heads, bigger injectors + gear! P.S Your gt40 explorer upper/lower intake is great leave it

They do have trw forge pistons but the blocks are not known to be strong that is actually one of the weak points as is the factory rods like most fords I have seen guys in the 450-500+ wheel range on stock bottom end but that is getting up toward the top of what they're capable of. The blocks begin to split much beyond that. They can be pushed further on good fuel and perfect tuning etc but you're really pushing things. I Def wouldn't consider the block "strong".

I spent $3k on my fox last year, which isn't *too* bad for a turnkey 5.0. Unfortunately it's an automatic car. I'm glad I had gotten a hatch because I ended up sleeping in her for 5 or 6 months late last year into 2023, despite having worked full time at the time. Fast forward to now where I've just taken her down for a failing torque converter. I'm out of the entire situation from before so I can put proper work into her. I'm gearing up and pricing out for a T5 swap though. Probably going to get a manual V6 SN95 and use that T5 in the fox, and move the engine to my dead 1996 V6. Luckily I got a 1989 F250 with a 460 for $250 a few months back so I'll have a daily until the fox and/or the SN95 is fixed. Can't wait either because 460 fuel consumption is ass.

The 351M I had in my ‘77 F150 Shortbed 4x4 ran great but the truck had some other issues so I bought an ‘01 Navigator parts car to swap everything into my truck with the plans to build the expedition block I have for boost and then snag a superchcarger.

Yea my foxbody is great because of the will it make it feature I mean I run around making every bit of 430 to the wheels before a 200 shot so you can imagine it’s not a smooth ride . I think what I’m trying to say is going out in a gnarly old fox and riding around town with a hog as cam and nitrous are some of my best memories. Don’t over complicate it

Put a Gen 2 coyote in it. I wouldnt go gen 1 or gen 3. Throw away the mt82 and get a t56 magnum xl to save you the headache having an mt82. Make sure to get Oil pump gears and the crank sprcoket done as well on the coyote. Theyre known to crack at high rpm

They Crack when ppl bounce off the limiter and aren't needed if you can actually drive and don't do those things. The mt82 ain't near as bad as its made out to be with good fluids in it and a quality clutch and shifter behind it. T56 magnum is better but alot more money. You also have to gear the car very steep to offset the tall gearing whereas mt82 is geared for the coyote if you get an 11-17 model (18 up mt82 has the ass long gearing and and weaker forks). If you're doing an na setup the gen 1 coyote, even the truck one does just fine.

Yeah I’ve found that they sound good with the big cams but it’s probably run better with the stock cam and 1.7 roller rockers. I’m going through the same thing. I run 93 still get spark knock, timing at 30 degrees. Think she’s needs more fuel. I mean I get 20 mpg with 4:10 gears still, lol. I’m not complaining about that but I think it needs more at wot. Also probably needs new springs too! Mine are stock and are probably floating.

I think hot rod mag made over 400hp with a stock HO cam and bottom end. Good intake, heads and exhaust. People want a choppy idle just because its cool, even though it's worse to live with and will barely make more power in a stock engine.

​@Vaino_Hotti there ain't no way in hell they made 400 hp with a stock cam 302 even flywheel hp with no accessories turning and straight headers it wound be extremely difficult to do that it must have had every trick in the book and it certainly isn't normal. People want cams because they make more power period. Of course it sounds great chopping that is a side benefit but most people are doing them for performance. Aftermarket cam doesn't equal drive like crap necessarily its all in the tune. You don't have to have tbe biggest cam possible.

The heads cam and intake are all restrictions on these and it will benefit from all those things. If you stick a b cam in a stock car it prob won't gain much but why would anyone do that? You should do heads cam and intake and make them all jive well together don't just start randomly throwing parts at it. Well thought out combos with parts designed to work with one another will make more power all the guys making the best power with any particular setup have well thought out combos vs just throwing random parts at it.

​@@Vaino_HottiRichard holder did a dyno of a really good trickflow heads cam intake setup on one with straight Long tubes and no accessories turning it barely pulled 400 at the crank and that was with the badass 11r heads. No way it's doing that with a stock cam it's just not happening. Wheel hp would be more like 320-325 or so.
