No. The main reason is that the wing pushes the air down. The counterforce pushes the wing up. Edit: This is the explanation of Wolfgang Langewiesche.
@LuxPlanes8 ай бұрын
Well, this is actually quite a touchy subject. Some people say that some lift is created by downwash thanks to newton's third law and some say it's created by the pressure difference. Some say it's a mix of the two. Others say these are just 2 ways of computing and understanding total lift on a wing. The difference in pressure is generally the most common description and understanding of how an airplane creates lift so I chose to present it this way. However, I might make another video explaining downwash and how that can be used to understand lift on a wing. Hope that helps!
@Stopaclotion8 ай бұрын
@@LuxPlanesAh, thanks for the reply. It is no doubt true that what you say in the video is true, I just wrote this comment because the book 'Stick and Rudder' by Wolfgang Langewiesche explains how planes fly and says this is the main reason for lift. It is a really good book on not just how planes fly, but on how to fly them. Despite it being from the 1940's it's still very accurate today. It has 250000 copies in print and I do recommend it. I'm not 100% sure what the real reason is, but it is a really interesting topic and probably all the factors mentioned by him and Bernoulli are the reason planes fly, however I think the explanation of Wofgang makes most sense. I think it's a great idea to add the downwash theory into one of your videos. Good luck!
@toiam83508 ай бұрын
No you are wrong its both the you can test it by taking a narrow sheet of paper putting it under your lips then blowing harder over it. What will happen is the paper will flow up as there is a low pressure zone above it and there is no change in air pressure below it. However most lift is generated this way depending on speed and the attitude/speed the airfoil is design to work at. For commercial airlines generall you can say its both methods but for military aircraft that are designed to fly at higher speeds its the method you explain. This is the reason why aircraft like the SR-71 or F-16 have generally mostly flat airfoils that look the can almost be perfectly mirrored from top to bottom

Here’s a drill rap that combines the old man’s love for bridges, animals, his cooking with street performing, and his quirky details: --- (Verse 1) Yo, in the park, there’s a legend who’s chill, Old man with fire mittens, cooking with skill. Mackinac Bridge on his mind, it’s his top thrill, But his tummy’s rumbling, and it’s causing a spill. (Pre-Chorus) He’s like, “Check this bridge, it’s the best I’ve seen, But my stomach’s on fire, and it’s not so serene.” He’s flipping pancakes with a street performance flair, Loves animals too, it’s a wild affair. (Chorus) He’s the old man with the drill and the fire mittens, Cooking up a storm while the street crowd’s grinning. With a tummy that’s rumbling and a bridge obsession, He’s got the vibes that make for a wild session. (Verse 2) Rocking animal prints, he’s got lions and bears, While juggling cooking pots with flair and cares. Every bridge is a marvel, every animal a friend, His street performances are where the fun won’t end. (Pre-Chorus) He’s like, “Yo, this arch is a sight to behold, But my stomach’s causing chaos, it’s getting bold!” In his world of bridges and animals galore, He’s cooking up joy and leaving you wanting more. (Chorus) He’s the old man with the drill and the fire mittens, Cooking up a storm while the street crowd’s grinning. With a tummy that’s rumbling and a bridge obsession, He’s got the vibes that make for a wild session. (Bridge) Time moves on, but his passions stay bright, Bridges and animals, and cooking in sight. With every arch and every animal cheer, He’s the street performer who’s always sincere. (Chorus) He’s the old man with the drill and the fire mittens, Cooking up a storm while the street crowd’s grinning. With a tummy that’s rumbling and a bridge obsession, He’s got the vibes that make for a wild session. (Outro) So if you catch him with a bridge map and a pan, Join the fun, it’s a magical plan. For in his world where cooking and bridges align, You’ll find the coolest vibes, and it’s all by design. --- Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to adjust or add!

Explanation: so an airplane engine produces thrust but lam going to be talking about the basic engine the turbofan. It works by the toothspone which makes the blades spin then comes the Tevins by taking power from the air to the toothspone and the air goes to the combustion chamber which is were air is mixed with fuel and is ignited and makes a blast of both energy and air which makes the plane move 😊 Like for pt.2

For people who don’t understand still. Basically it works the same way as pouring water in a cup, if you pour water with a glass cup it will run backwards along the edge of the cup if positioned at the correct angle. An airplanes wing works the same way, the air moves along the wing and is thrown down instead of back the same way the water is thrown down instead of going where you are pouring

All correct, but what makes a plane lift is the elevator on the back wing. This forces the aircraft down from the back, lifting the front
@LuxPlanes8 ай бұрын
Yes, thats partially correct, the elevator does control the pitch which assists the airplane to get airborne thanks to the rotation. However, with enough speed the wings will create enough lift to take off without even pitching up :) hope that helps!
