I got so scared about that gross Sonic Boom bullshit, but I searched it and found an article saying that Sega is doing it as a side-universe thing to the main series. Also, they apparently compared it to how Marvel and DC heroes have multiple versions in multiple universes. The game doesn't actually seem like it'll be too bad.
