Also to stop the water from penetrating up into your wall studs, they make a flashing tape that is meant to go between a wooden board and concrete to prevent moisture from the concrete rotting the board it’s a black and rubbery looking tape but that should be a good and quick barrier you can put on the end or bottom of the boards that physically touch the deck just to prevent moisture transfer from the boards

You might want to think about metal framing. If not metal there are other ways to get the curve. Some people who make boats put hot water or steam on the boards then use a mold and strap/clamps to hold the wood in place until it dries. I have a question.... Have you thought about getting a ladder for an aboveground pool to use until you cut the doorway? Have fun at the other silo. Good luck on your build!
@davidshumway96393 ай бұрын
You have steel walls. They are going to condensate. I suggest treated all the way up on the outer walls. If you don't, you will have mold between the metal and insulation. And eventually water in the wood.

Hey buddy! Just something to try would taking your boards that rest against the grain bin and soak them in hot water and try bending them, or measure the radius of the grain bin and divide 6-8 sections by cutting slits almost through the board so you are able to bend the board into the close radius you need to

You figured this floor puzzle out pretty good. Just a lesson for when walls are built. I’d hook up a fan some way.. but seems to me actually you will be building a modular home inside a grain silo. So it surely would be better, less cost, less headache to just build that house on a slab ..

Jason and Danielle, you can take a culmination of this other grain bin along with the one you have already stayed at and do the layout that suits you. Start with major sections of wall first and make them 48 inches wide. Where you have windows and doors divide spaces as even as possible. Also, if you have a height of ten feet you must also provide a firebreak. A firebreak is just a piece of the same wall material screwed or nailed between your studs..
@AnotherUser-z1k3 ай бұрын
I posted on the last video about this. Use plywood to cover the floor around the outside. You cut the plywood following the curve of the wall, the same width as your wall. You use them top and bottom of your walls.

I have been giving your floor situation a lot of thought. It seems like you should put down a moisture barrier before you add anything on top. I also saw on Pinterest this amazing stuff that seals almost like acrylic, it's not cheap but would keep out any water. Also starting with a center piece that is circular and have other pieces radiating off of it, in equal distance, to another larger circular piece and radiating out more pieces to the next circle, might give your floor the stability you are looking for. Not sure I am exposing that well. You would just need to find the exact center and go from there.

It seems they may be professional contractors but they have a ton of great ideas that may be helpful to you guys.
