Great video! I've been following your tips for a few months now and I feel like every week I'm getting better and better at styling my curls. Sectioning and styling seemed practically impossible to me a few months ago but I kept watching your videos and how you section your hair and the last two weeks I really feel like I'm getting the hang of it and it's doesn't feel so impossible to do! I've also gotten more compliments on my hair over the last couple of months than I'd gotten over the last 5 years put together!! I bought a Denman brush and started following your styling videos. I also bought the neck gaiter and hair ties that you recommended for wrapping my hair at night and I love how my hair it so less frizzy through the week and how much better my curls look before wash day! Thank you for your wonderful videos, I'm 43 and this is the best my hair has looked my whole life!! 💜

I have a solid wavy hair styling routine already but I still found this video helpful. Everything you said was true, and I had to learn everything through trial and error 😮‍💨 after 2 years, I still can't twirl my brush. It just leaves my hair knotted lol

Thank you for your comment, Beautiful. Agreed, trial and error can be so tough. I hope we can help others know there is a way to have a successful & dependable routine. And even while brushes are highly marketed for styling, they are not needed to get started. Twirling is definitely not a standard 😆 Waves & curls can be simple, quick & fun to style! ♥️

You have beautiful curls. 🌺 After trying to go curly for the last 2 1/2 years I have become frustrated with the frizz and the results I would get. I was rarely happy with how my hair looked in photos and the worst for me is I would look outdated because I would have that 80’s permed look. I went back to keratin 3 months ago and as a result I am loving my hair again because I realized that what really looks good on me is wavy hair. It flatters my face more and looks modern. As the keratin has worn off I get beautiful waves with no frizz. My biggest problem with curly hair was getting it to frame my face in a complementary way.

Hi Wanda, Thank you for your message! Having hair that you love and that feels more like you is a gift. ♥️ Thank you for sharing your story too. Learning about our hair and our own style can take a lot of trial and error, but it’s so amazing when it all come together. I found that looking at pictures of my hair allowed me to see it more objectively and find out what length, cut, & style feels right to me too. And of course we always have the freedom to change our style for fashion, for mood, for a season of life. I’m definitely one to pull out my ✂️ at any given moment… Face framing with the length and the amount of hair can really make an impactful style transformation. It is an important topic to discuss! 🌺

What are a few brushes you recommend? I’ve worn my curly hair naturally for over 20 years and thought I was doing well. Recently started watching many influencers (black hole of Insta!) and learning about the brush thing…. I haven’t brushed my hair like ever….so would love ideas on what brush to try!

Hi Emily! Brushes are definitely optional for curly styling. I love using a detangling brush to smooth in my conditioner. For styling, the type of brush really depends on your hair type. For loose curls like mine, fine to coarse textures, the wet brush has a smooth & shine brush with boar bristles mixed in. It’s been my favorite so far: rstyle.me/cz-n/gi8t24dks5p

Hi! Try not using any oils in that area, as oils repel water and keep your hair from getting hydrated on wash day. You can also try upright styling (full routine here kzbin.info/www/bejne/eF6saX-Xe8qFl7c) to give you more control with product application. You can apply gel all the way up to the scalp & keep the moisture in that area. I hope these tips help!

@@TheCurlStory do you mean not pre pooing with oil?? Or do youmean not applying oil as loc method (i dont do this)?? Or is it no oil on roots while sotc with oil? 😬 And yup i watched that video and i do apply leave in gel upto roots and brush to smoothout that frizziness but even then the crown is dry compared to lengths

@@TheCurlStory i have early graying so i do root retouch every 2 months.... But compared to it my lengths have highlights (bleached hair) and yet the lengths look far healthier than roots (as in less frizzy dry)

@@NoorFatima-oh7qo Hi! Yes, any type of oil use is not recommended when you are trying to hydrate your hair. You can also troubleshoot what other differences there are in your routine. How you dry your hair, weather exposure and type of product being used. You might also try to clarify your hair to give it all a good fresh start.
