The way Elias speaks to the priest, like a parent trying to calm a scared and lost child. Everything is said so matter of factly... "There is no light here", is almost said reassuringly. It's probably one of the more terrifying parts of this trailer.

Blizzard is not the best in making cinematic, great yes, but not the best. Square Enix, formally Squaresoft, has that honor in my opinion. When Microsoft made their Direct X 12 demo they went to Square Enix to create the cinematic/ gameplay showcase.

Guys, the cinematics are part of the gaming experience. Anyone that loves Diablo also loves the cinematics. It partially explains that Lilith is the end boss. The game is a loot game. Backstories help add another dimension to the game.

Humm first of all, we dont know if lilith is an end boss, if u know the lore of diablo, Lilith helped Nephalems and love them. Inarius was the ennemy. For sure, mephisto daughter will be an important character.

Haha, I'll try to run down the details: - Game is an action RPG dungeon crawler, isometric camera angle. - Previous games dealt with the three prime evils (Diablo, Mephisto, Baal) and the four lesser evils (Andariel, Duriel, Belial, Azmodan). - Lilith is the daughter of Mephisto (The lord of Hatred, hence "Daughter of Hatred"). She grew tired of the eternal war between demons and angels, and hooked up with the angel Inarius, who was also tired of the war. Along with him, they (along with other angel/demon rebels) gave birth to humans, who are half demon, half angel (the most powerful are known as Nephalem, the heroes from Diablo 3). She created Sanctuary, the world where humans live (and where the majority of the gameplay takes place, though we have dipped into heaven and hell in past games). - Looks like this story is following her, as the 7 prime/lesser evils had their souls trapped in a "black soulstone", which was destroyed at the end of Diablo 3, releasing their souls back into the world. So we will potentially see many or even all 7 Evils at some point. The gameplay trailer already confirms Duriel is back.

@dianna k Actually i have this weird feeling that Rathma is being influenced by Diablo for his own ends. As we know Diablo's essence has been free since the end of Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls. And this takes place years after that.

Just a little correction. Lilith gave birth to the Nephalem not to humanity directly. The rise of humanity is the result of generations of evolutionary change because the world stone was adjusted to the Nephalem weaker. Also how confirmed is it that Duriel is back? I know it seems this why based on the gameplay trailer but Malpheal's defeat didn't release the 7 prime/lesser evils. It released Diablo still combined with the essence of the rest.

@@milosmilinkov1689 There's some dialog in D3 from her and a book outside the game. In D3 she says she is tired of the war because the victories are always fleeting. What is won one day, lost the next. After the Nephalam are born she wants to use them as her army because they have the potential to be more powerful than both factions. Inarius doesn't want this, so this leads to them fighting and the discovery of Sanctuary, which had been hidden. So, you could say that now that she saw the opportunity for a real win, she was happy for war. I haven't read the book, so that's just the impression I got from D3 where she and Inarius have several voice overs from their perspectives.

It's an isometric RPG, so the game play and look is generally all the same from game to game. Diablo players don't really need a game play trailer to understand what the game is or how it will work, but a decent cinematic trailer to set the tone and show off some of the background lore is always nice to have.
