CC. Like the low camera angle close to the water line and the accompanying music.

Thank you. I guess that is the one advantage to having a GoPro. It wasn't actually waterproof because I had a microphone attached to it and it was inside the Media Mod. But I was still comfortable enough with it to be able to hold it over the side of the boat and low over the water. I'm not sure you would dare do that with regular cameras or a smartphone. 😀

The Insta360 X3 video truly adds a nice perspective to the boat ride for sure... nice one buddy and it was a very interesting tour indeed.

Using the 360 camera was actually an afterthought. I didn't get it ready before I got in the boat. But I suddenly realized I should use it at least a little bit. And then right in the middle of the boat ride, I was getting all my camera bags out of my knapsack and trying to assemble the camera. That was pretty funny. Luckily nothing got dropped into the water. 😁

I enjoyed it. As I mentioned somewhere in the videos, I think it was my first group tour ever. I'd never done one before. And I was interested to see how it would work out and whether I would enjoy it. And to my surprise, I had a great time. It was nice to be part of a group for a change. And it was also nice to have everything organized for me. I didn't have to make any decisions or struggle with the language barrier. I just relaxed and had fun and went along for the ride.

@@PlanetDoug I always do the solo adventure and fly by the seat of my pants. An organized tour like this would make for a nice chaange every now and again. I still love just wandering in a place and finding the hidden gems no one ever talks about.

Yes, I see that style in your videos. People have said that they see a lot of similarities between me and the Frugal Wanderer, and not just that we are both from Canada. You like to go off wandering in random local neighborhoods and see what you can stumble across. I've done similar things in the past. I probably wouldn't have gone on this Mekong Delta group tour on my own. A subscriber to my KZbin channel suggested it and set it up for me. And I'm very glad he did. That's another benefit to having a KZbin channel. I meet a lot of people that open up new horizons and new activities for me. Through them, I end up doing something I wouldn't have done normally. I think what you said is a good perspective on a tour like this. Even if you prefer to go off on your own and have personal adventures, a tour like this is kind of a nice change. That's how it felt to me. 👍

Wonderful camera work especially around the 27:00 mark.

Thank you. The first part was taken with my GoPro. I just held it upside down beside the boat and as close to the water as possible. And after that, I switched to the 360 camera. And that camera offers all kinds of interesting possibilities. You can move the camera around physically, but then you can also change the camera angle and perspective as much as you like afterwards when you are editing. It's a fun camera to use.

I am in the same age bracket. Though, to be honest, most of my impressions of the Vietnam War come from movies and TV shows. I was 15 years old when the Vietnam War ended. But at that time, I wasn't paying any attention to international news. The Vietnam War would have been ongoing throughout my entire childhood, but I don't remember being very aware of it. But I also instantly associate almost everything in Vietnam with the war. Every time I think of a particular city or region, my next thought is of the role it played in the war or in specific events that happened there or nearby.

I think in a normal life, I would not climb out onto the prow of this boat for a photo. But since I was recording the day on video, I felt I should do everything, including the occasional photo op. So you can say that KZbin forced me to do it. 🤪

What an awful tourist trap Vietnam has become.
@PlanetDoug4 ай бұрын
I certainly don't see it that way or think of it that way. Vietnam seems like a very genuine place to me. There's certainly more tourism now than there was back in the '90s on my first visit. And you can sign up for one of these guided group tours if you like. But you don't have to. There is tons and tons of the country out there that you can just go explore on your own. It just seems to me that the phrase tourist trap has a negative connotation like someone has tricked you or scammed you or taken advantage of you. But these guided group tours are nothing like that. My day tour to the Mekong Delta was just a pleasant day out with a bunch of like-minded people. It was quite enjoyable. If I wanted to, I could rent a motorcycle or bring my bicycle up from Malaysia and go wandering all around the Mekong Delta on my own and have all kinds of independent adventures. It's just a personal choice what you want to do with your time. Nobody's trapping anybody into a guided tour. 😃
