勘違いが甚だしいですね。 敵の電波を傍受する機体では無く、こちらが電波を発信して、地手の行動を探知する機体です。 この機体があることで、空母艦隊の防空が、確保できるのです。 半径200nmの地表面に、そして航空に対しては半径400nmの探知能力があるからこそ、 空母艦隊の防空が、確保できるのです。

かれこれ 数十年前、E-2C 4機 の 空輸支援をした事あります。 船便にて 横浜ノースピア に到着、バージ に乗せ られ 対岸の 木更津へ、 木更津で 陸揚げ モスボール 解除 メンテナンス後 厚木へ 空輸 でした。 新造機では無く、SDLM 終了後の機体でした、興味本位で 機内覗いても、"B型" "C型" の違いは 見た感じ 分かりませんでした。

The E-2 wasn't the first with a radome on top. That was the E-1 Tracer, known otherwise as the Willy Fudd.

そうですね、ただ空母用に設計されてる、特殊機の為、 飛行特性に、多少問題がある様ですね。 陸上で用いるなら、EPー3CとはEー7とかEPー2とかに、Rを換装した方が、 利用価値が上がる筈なんですが。 そう 米コーストガードでは使用されてますよね。 それとR自体をEVー22に積んで、イージス艦でのR管制を行えば、 正規空母を持たない国でも、艦隊防空が出来る様になるのですが。

塩害対策、塵埃等から機体を保護する為にモスボールされている。通常の保管期間内ならば日本の高温多湿下でもある程度は屋外でも大丈夫そうだがやはり大型ハンガー内に移設した方が無難だろう。

They stay away from hot places.600 Km range for radar. Will have fighter aircraft for protection.
