Baloney. I worked 2 jobs, 5 kids,working on my Masters. No techno. Give them a book, a ( paper) tablet and a box of colored markers and tell them to draw me their dream. We were poor,so they knew we didn't have "stuff". Totally corny; we had each other. Be honest with your children; and hug them and love on them as much as they will allow. They don't need to keep up with others,and, by the way,either do we.

Wonderful show, thank you!! 🤩 Social media regulation: I hear a lot of "personal responsibility" and no solutions. The comparison with phone companies doesn't work, since phone companies don't amplify private conversations. Like Timothy Snyder & Yuval Noah Harari are saying: It's not the people that are accountable here, it's the algorithms that amplify the message. We need to learn how to hold them accountable for their cheap way of money-making. There is no elaborate psychology involved in algorithms; they are just as lazy as people; the cheapest way to win engagement, is rage-boosting. (and sex sells, of course).

Free speech is healthy, even it's a completely bonkers opinion. Free spread of rage-bait is not, since it's simply robots (algorithms) doing this to increase ad-payments. The logical conclusion, therefore, is that algorithms should be scrutinised, not the people themselves. (In Europe hate speech is severely bound, luckily. And there's a difference between free speech and hate speech.)

Having said that, I am a little fuzzy on the difference between the regulation of news papers as publishers and say book publishers…I mean 1A protections do allow you to spew incredible falsehoods w/o fear of government reprisal… so even I become concerned over “regulation” of speech (again, certain speech is already regulated “fire” in crowded bldg, misleading statements on financial forms when publicly traded, etc)
