Modern day dating is fake AF. Like dating behaviour vs after married behaviour being different is one of the most common complaints. but most people expect fakeness, no one wants honest in dating, both sides wants the other side to be super nice even if they know it may be fake.

Totally relating to this episode HAHA. Even as a woman, I have a hard time trying to understand my kind. And majority of it boils down to consistency (i.e. yes means yes, no means no, idk means idk and maybe means maybe). It is often the inconsistency (e.g. wanting a birthday present but saying that ‘it’s okay, don’t need to get it for me’ and then not communicating to the friend/partner that you want it when you eventually change your mind) that is indeed confusing yet alluring. And that’s the funny thing, it becomes a less attractive trait when you are able to predict someone’s mind (since well, consistent right?) as compared to when it is unpredictable (which men finds it mysteriously fascinating).

are icks just signs of us getting less tolerant with each other? comparing it to our parents generation, there are definitely some stuff our parents do that makes one another annoyed but i believe they are tolerant enough to see past those and look at the good qualities right? isnt that ironic.. as humans we need each other to survive but yet we can’t tolerate one another.

Personally, I feel that it is good to reject a person in a polite manner (by calling bro/sis etc) but it is also important that if your "polite" manner isn't working, the person should outright tell the other party that "hey. I only take you as a friend". This should help and if it doesn't, you should know what to do next. Instead of complaining/whining that the person don't take no, say it outright. Still, there are a minority group which legit "die hard clan". Accept it

To summarise, girls want to see the guy's effort, honesty, and intentions while showing as little as possible of theirs because.... Girls have more to lose? They want to have the deciding vote if the relationship is the right one to pursue? However I think about it, it seems selfish and self-serving to me. But I'm open to any other answer that paints this in a better light

So back on the question Dan's crowdsourcing for that there must be an easier way to "share" what you want. It's called "stop playing games and opening your mouth". I can't say this is 100% of the population who does this, but I'd be darn sure 90% do it because there is a sense of superiority. It allows you to feel above your partner because like hey, you should know what I want, you should make the effort, understand me, know me, when I lift a finger, you should know what that means. And this applies to people who do this, both men and women. So in the end, it's games to "up" your position/ego/sense of superiority. I mean... not saying it's wrong, but I'd say that's the intention behind it.

I think the problem lies with some guys dont have EQ. So they cannot take polite no as an answer, but yet if we jumped the gun and be aggressive in expressing NO, the guys turn around and say we think too much. [And I agree so much with Alison on the ICK, it just turns us off completely and help us know we cant vibe.] There are instances I try to be polite to the guy and find ways to say no to the persistent lunch/tea/dinner meet ups. Because to me, we are colleagues and not even friends... but the guy just doesn't get it! But at the same time I cannot jump the gun and say I not interested, because he didn't say or do anything "extra". He only kept asking me out to eat like every month, and randomly tell me things like "he ending work early tmr want to go eat"? Until 8 months later when I was really irritated and recounted to a friend, my (guy) friend said he think that this guy was trying to flirt and break the colleague boundary, or he ownself already assumed we were friends. How to deal with these low EQs/SA without being rude?!

Women's mind is fickle. Some women contradict themselves. Ask them what they want to eat, they cannot even decide. Advice for guys is No Need to try so hard to please them. Just go with whatever appears in front of you. Don't plan too far ahead. The guy's problem is that they want to plan ahead of everything. So don't.

Just wanted to add that Denise need not feel that her heuristic opinions or thoughts need to be validated by social scientists, especially for topics that are constantly evolving, i.e. the constant battle to explain and differentiate power in intimate relationship (Why? Because fallible humans like us do not comprehend and exhibit true loves all the time). Sometimes, social scientists were incapable of achieving a credible level of external reliability because the context of their research had far too many controlled variables or assumptions, resulting in outcomes/results that were not generalizable. Hence, science or social science should not be seen as the “gold standard” for discussions or the truth, unless all of us are trained to evaluate how the research were conducted, and test the falsifiability of hypotheses. I could think of two major groups of people coming to this channel: to search for validation in their thoughts or just looking out of general opinions on popular social topics. For the former, who wants to be herded, it is important to equip them with applicable thought processes so that they can be thinkers of their own rights, and for the latter, you need not worry that they consume every word at wholesale.

First off, whatever I say can go all genders la. So don't offended k. 😊 I think women take implication of actions seriously, hence small things can become "issues". So, guys may think women are complicated because everything can suddenly become issue. Eg. If you care for her, you'd help carry her groceries when you see her struggle. If you continue walking while she carries 3-5 bags of groceries, your action implies that you don't bother to care if she needs assistance, some more she cooks for u everyday. If you respect the relationship , you wouldn't cat call or gawk over other girls in public to make her feel disrespected. What's the implication behind that action kan? Alot la examples can give. But one way to understand more is to take one day, observe your mother, sister or gf.. See how they take initiative in action to care for you. Asking abt your day, cleaning up after you, preparing snacks for you while u play game, etc. Women mostly don't need to be told to show you they care. But men are wired differently. Need to ask then they do. Hence, why men (Not all men ya. Not trying to argue) cannot comprehend why women overreact when they don't get equal treatment.

Hahah what I learnt throughout my years is that, I love surprises BUT I also want to know that what my S.O. chose is what I liked. So what I do is, I will send a couple of choices (of bouquets), he will choose 1 to purchase AND I don't know which he chose (surprise part) and he is certain that I would love the bouquet. :P Sort of a 'meet halfway' lah. We can't expect people to read our mind, regardless of genders.

17:16 ALternate Title for this episode JP is da man ! 24:20 Bro specifically spreads as a way for Black men to address one another in the early 1900s. Like bruh, it goes mainstream as an informal term for a “male friend or fellow” in the 1960s. It was not until the 1990s, though, that the stereotypical bro takes off to refer to-and often mock-a young, usually white male variously and often negatively characterized as being preppy, party-loving, egotistical, sexist, and so on. Even though teenage boys want to have close male friends, they are hyper-aware of societal and cultural expectations of stereotypical masculinity. The fear of being labeled gay prevents them from admitting how much they value their male friends. Boys support and depend on their friends just as much as girls do, but showing true caring among teenage boys in not seen as acceptable in their minds. Talking about the teenage slang expression bruh with your sons can help open their minds to the acceptability and importance of having fulfilling male friendships. So depending on who not every one can use this term on me. Not your bruh, dude. dude not your, bro. 26:08 Am also sensitive to mood changes but I usually don't ask but read her body language and if I am close or know her for some time. I will just pre ampt and do it without a word. Would even buy pads / tampon for a co worker when she requested a change of spots in a water park with me. and when other ppl kept asking why she come to me to ask. Just said " she bleeding la " The dumb ass manager thought she had an accident and activated the medic.... then when the medic and every one came... and found out that it was just her period... I got alot of that u nugget cheesepie fishsticks. I said " but correct mah she bleeding whattt.... " she was feeling so crampy and moody yet she smiled at me and laughed it off. I just wispered " so feel better ? " She just nodded. Shout out to one of my workgf !

Quite disappointed in JP this episode for the lack of awareness he showed about the possible backlash women can face when rejecting men. I hope he'll take the time to actually hear some experiences from women. I also think that if you guys do decide to hear out some women with these experiences, that you'll give them a platform if they are willing. Most women know at least one person who has been harassed in some capacity by a guy who either can't handle rejection or is a just a sexual assaulter. Trigger warning for harassment, sexual assault and rape from this point onwards ⚠️ A guy from my uni spread rumors about my friend that rejected him saying she slept with him. Sure, more men are nice than not but it's definitely not uncommon for some guys to become very angry and lash out violently when rejected. My mom's friend from highschool was stalked and harassed for months after rejecting a guy's advances. It got so bad that she had to move towns because the police said they couldn't do anything without him unless he physically harmed her. My parents have seen girls drinks get spiked at hotels. I had a friend in college who went to travel in Europe and her drink got spiked as well. (She was with a friend so got out ok thankfully) I also once got on a plane with a lady who told me that she had just been raped by a friend she knew for over 7 years. He was married and had kids. I've gone to parties where guys just try to drag drunk girls into rooms while they are basically black out drunk. Girls are constantly aware that while most men are nice, it is just a reality that as women there will be many many men who will try to take advantage of you. That's why they're extra cautious and try to get a better feel for people's personalities before opening up.
