Ashley is right though. I acknowledge that and respect it. I’ve grown up in a society that craves super skinny to the point of boyish. And I’m not that. I’ve never been that. And am not likely to be. The first people that have made me feel empowered, beautiful, or attractive were my black female friends. Because of their ‘yes girl, rock it!’ attitude. And because they genuinely did appreciate me. I appreciate that back. Attractiveness is about attitude. And they helped me get that attitude.

She is full of BS: - as if she went through hardship which took her amazing effort and ability to overcome. She was blessed with extraordinary beauty and it only took someone in the modelling industry to realize she was marketable and profitable. - she doesn't try to look beautiful for men? First of all, you can be beautiful without such a deep cleavage. What she wants is invoking sexual attraction in others. Secondly, the reason for wanting to look beautiful (sexy) is to feed your ego in the knowledge that people see you that way. - she's battling sexual objectification of women? By willingly emphasizing your physical attributes and focusing other people's attention on them, you put your personality in second place, which is the definition of making yourself a sexual object.
@chadgessner44126 жыл бұрын
Yep basically this. I especially like the part where she said "Who cares what men like?". The answer to that is clearly her, and women in general. Otherwise they wouldn't bother with makeup, they would all just wear jeans , with pockets :o and whatever is comfortable. But the vast majority don't. And all of the insecurity, the eating disorders? Who is all that for? And I'm not even saying there is anything wrong with trying to be fit and look good to attract men, it works and if men is what you want yolo... I'm just saying pretending something is true doesn't make it so.
@RageTyrannosaurus6 жыл бұрын
CHad Gessner Some people make themselves up to make themselves feel better. If you've ever looked in a mirror and been disappointed in what you see, then you might understand why someone would alter themselves to match what they think is appealing. That wasn't a jab at you, by the way.
@BcroG116 жыл бұрын
RageTyrannosaurus There's a difference between not wanting to look bad (or even wanting to look beautiful) and going out of your way to display and emphasize your sexual attributes. It shows what you primarily value in yourself and what you want people to notice you by. Don't be surprised then that people will actually do that...

Sebastian Mustermann I dont think celebrating the most attractive of women is less than empowering. Empowerment doesn't mean pretending everyone is the same. I feel fine with my identity as a man despite not being GQ material. The point here is that different types of.women can be attractive as well.and that's finally being acknowledged. Not to mention that does open doors for women who are farther from the typical modeling body set.

She hasn't done shit to improve the world. People like you who look up to morons like this are ruining the world. Air heads like you dont value real struggle and hardship and you flock to trivial celebrities idolizing their bullshit. She needs to stop showing off her tits and start showing off her brain.

"...too curvy, too loud, too tall, too outspoken..." Curves are beautiful because we're *women* and we're *supposed* to have curves. Too loud? Make some damn noise! Too tall? Girl, that just means you *rise above* . Too outspoken? That's called progress, that's called living in the 21st century. Be confident in who you are because when you're confident you're telling the people around you that what you're saying is *important*, and that your opinions matter, that *you* matter. Because you do. No matter who's telling you that you'll never be good enough, they're wrong and you *know* it because you are confident and curvy and loud and *proud to be so*. Glad to see you proving them wrong, every day.

One of the hottest women in the world tries to score sympathy points for growing up "ugly"??? You might have been a bit overweight, Ashley, but you have never been ugly in your life. Modelling is never going to be empowering. You're a mannequin wearing and doing only what you're told. You have no choices to make and no power. Only the tiniest fraction who become big names can claim to have some power and this comes from their celebrity. They will always be under a microscope of people commenting about their bodies, checking for weight fluctuations, "letting themselves go". Like all women they'll be evaluated by the size and firmness of their breasts, the span of their hips and how well they conform to male ideals of beauty. I'm glad that women bigger than twigs are being acknowledged as beautiful also but if you really want to empower women, how about equal pay, free daycare for working mothers and demanding that men contribute equally to house cleaning and child care.
@eye-leenlove6 жыл бұрын
From an aesthetic point of view - modeling is simply the adoration of the human body. It's such a simple job - does not require brains. I'm just saying - no offense - this is the art of displaying the human body. I appreciate it. It's fascinating to see all the types of bodies and faces that exist among our species...wow...now if only aliens would acknowledge us...i think they find us despicable!

Yeah... I’m all for women’s sexual liberation, that is, your sexuality should be your choice: be gay, be straight, be in an open relationship, have a freaking orgy, etc. Women shouldn’t be called “whores” more often than men for the same behavior. Having said that, I never understood the BS that having half of your titties out is liberating and empowering... I mean, if a guy were to wear pants that pretty much outline his dick, or even worse, give you a peak, nobody would claim that’s liberating for men or that he’s just “doing it for himself, because he feels sexy, not because he wants to be seen”. Give me a freaking break. If you want/like the attention, at least be honest about it.
@Hmrh16 жыл бұрын
yellingatcows you 👏 are 👏 not 👏 crazy 👏
@Tabmaj6 жыл бұрын
Why? If that’s what those women want to do when why not empower them to do it? You’re trying to empower women by limiting their wants? You’re trying to get them to fit in your mold of what you think women should pursue. The modeling industry is cutthroat and antm helps create a pathway and exposure for these women. There’s women who aren’t on antm who are doing crazy things to be a model so why not be on antm?
@SermonsSubtitled6 жыл бұрын
@Maria Mort "I never understood the BS that having half of your titties out is liberating and empowering" sounds quite hipocritical considering what you wrote about sexual liberation. You're all for sexuality being a woman's choice she shouldn't have to justify nor explain the reasons to anybody, let alone being judged for. Yet when it comes to her coice of dresses, you don't grant them the same freedom without judging them negatively. You don't know what why she chose that dress! Sure she wants some attention like ALL MEN AND WOMEN who dress up! So why should she be looked at any differently than other ppl who dress up, just because "showing part of one's titties" doesn't register as "still normal" in YOUR "appropriateness"-scale? In some countries women, who wear make-up and don't wear headscarfs are not registered as "still normal" but as "prostitutes/whores/attentiongrabbers" etc.
