Regarding her mention facing push-back as a female artist. Anybody who thinks even for a second that her voice is "processed" and "can't really sing" is incredibly delusional. As I've gotten older (50+) I don't care for the 'show' (an artist's image and gimmicks) anymore. It takes REAL musical talent to get me to want to listen and listen more. I had never even heard her music before a few months ago. But man can this woman SING. Incredible talent. She's where she belongs right now and her talent is what got her there.

And yes, I do think she’s original, at least a raspy voice like hers is not that common, plus what she makes is pop music, it’s not meant to be considered a “classic” or “trailblazing” or “pioneer”. The music industry is full of people who are struggling to achieve even a fraction of the success she has. Many can't even make a full-time living off it, and there are countless stories of people who gave up. Whether that is largely due to a lack of talent/skill or a lack of luck, the point still stands that there are many stars that have to align for you to become a household name, especially in the genre as brutal as pop.

I think she resisted the notion that in order to make good music, female pop singers have to introspect and fret over their insecurities and anxieties. That's not necessarily a bad thing to do, but it's not necessarily good either, and it has led to a lot of so-so sophomore albums from apparently talented performers ... Whereas Dua's second album was pop perfection throughout every track, and the best record she could possibly make. And she deserves to be congratulated for that.

I hope she continues to make more music like 'Happy For You'. Upbeat production that compliments and doesn't overshadow the emotion in the lyrics and vocal performance. It perfectly encapsulates the theme of the album.

As a 40 old guy, i tell you that she is by far the most enjoyable female artist in many senses, in years. She is complete. I never enjoy so much a female voice like this, maybe follow by close by Ava Max, another talented, and sexy artist. But Dua is something else, she can move and sing like nobody else, and looks like a very, very nice person. Impossible not to love it

Not many people state that Dua’s songs are actually so damn catchy, hence why most people love them and buy them.
@kommisar.

Because that's a given in pop music. If they're not catchy, they're automatically not going to be popular. That's half the reason why it's "pop".

I had no idea who Dua Lipa was until I saw her on SNL once and her voice and performance was really impressive. This 60-minute interview also gave more insight, she kind of reminds me a little of Amy Winehouse, she has the voice and talent to go all the way to the top if she explores other genres of music. I wish her the Best !

If her statement of "Burning children alive can never be justified" is controversial to you, please think over your life choices.
@NoamPeled
@NoamPeled 2 ай бұрын
You're distorting the issue about that controversy. The problem was about portraying Israel as the perpetrator and accusing it of "genocide", when the facts are quite the opposite. It was Hamas who burned children alive and deliberately so, while Israel in its response to the atrocities carried out by Hamas , has always been trying to minimise civilian casualties (and comparatively succeeds in doing so, as it demonstrates the smallest ratio in history between civilian and combatant casualties, despite the fact that Hamas constantly uses kids as human shields) - and it is Hamas who's to blame for this whole episode in this endless bloodshed. If you care about the children of Gaza, It's never too late to tell Hamas to release the hostages.

And people can think over their choices all they want, but it is the Israeli government and IDF that have the real power to stop killing people-- and the governments that help fund their military, like the US, that also bear responsibility.
@NoamPeled
@NoamPeled 2 ай бұрын
@@SuperRobertoClemente So you're basically expecting Israel to stop fighting Hamas and just wait for the hostages to escape on their own?
@SuperRobertoClemente
@SuperRobertoClemente 2 ай бұрын
@@NoamPeled Also, the IDF is not fighting Hamas. It is destroying Gaza and its people, systematically, along with all its infrastructure for keeping those people alive, educated and fed. Now it wants to do the same to Southern Lebanon-- to provoke Hezbollah into another Oct. 7 so that a new zone can be leveled. The same plan is ongoing in the West Bank. Go ahead and deny this-- seriously.
@SuperRobertoClemente
@SuperRobertoClemente 2 ай бұрын
@@NoamPeled During the Vietnam War, the US military declared that they had destroyed one village in order to save it. A similar absurdity is at play here. Israel will "save" the hostages by getting them killed, to reveal Hamas' cruelty and justify the destruction of Gaza. Nonsense propaganda for the already brainwashed.

Not very often you hear a song for the first time and love it. Pretty much every song she's released is an absolute tune!!! Plus she's fit af so that's a bonus too

GREAT interview Anderson, I'm a huge fan of Dua Lipa and wasn't aware of her back story. I first heard her music from her second album and have been a fan ever since. Her story is actually somewhat similar to that of The Weeknd, Abel Tesfaye. But he totally dropped out of school and ran away from home to pursue a career in music. And he worked to get money to live and pay to have the songs he had written recorded. He then sent out demos of 3-4 songs to the radio stations in Toronto, where he lived asking tthem to consider paying his songs. And somehow Drake, who's also from Toronto, heard one of his demos and made the effort to find him. Drake was so impressed with Abel's work that he invited him to sing a couple of songs at his concerts. It wasn't long before record producers became aware of Abel's talent and offered him a contract and as they say, the rest is history.
