You must've done a lot of repressing of emotions and have a far more cynical, myopic worldview if you think 2024 was anywhere nearly as bad as 2020? 2020 saw massive racial unrest, riots nationwide with the George Floyd protests, Covid-19 infecting, killing hundreds of thousands of Americans with still no mandated vaccine available. Social distancing, schools, malls, supermarkets, entire downtown metro areas of major cities shut down, our economy short-circuiting. Biden defeating Trump in the 2020 elections mightve been great but that's a relatively positive move despite 2020 being one of the most divisive, contensious and roughest years in American and world history since 1968. 2024 seems very tame by comparison. If Biden hadn't waited nearly two years to announce he wouldn't run for a second term and allow newer, younger candidates like Shapiro, Newsom, and VP Harris to have an actual Democratic caucus, and a true, potent legitimate counter-point to Trump. Harris made a great "last-minute, emergency" pick, but she didn't have nearly enough time.

Considering how some cognitive psychologists have claimed Trump is in the early stages of Alzheimer's/dementia, I doubt Donnie will know who he is or certain members of his own cabinet much leas scheme around for more time to stay in office. And after Trump, who does GOP have to legitimately run to succeed him? MAGA begins and ends with Trump, period. They won't accept J.D. Vance because he's not Trump, he's not experienced enough to be "his own man", some MAGA types suspect he really isn't one of them due to his past remarks; that he's more of a duplitious opportunist. Desantis puts up some MAGA rhetoric but he'll never get their full support due to being conditioned by Trump to dislike him over the years. Haley and Desantis will likely be the GOP's top POTUS candidates for the 2028 election.
