Even without going through any empirical research, they should be thinking "oh this vaping thing resembles smoking", which should then raise some red flags. Then a stranger (who works for the vaping companies) gives tells them these flavored vapes are safe. Every kid in America these days is taught two basic things growing up: smoking is bad for you, and don't trust the stranger with candy. I have cut down significantly and my husband quit a year ago by vaping. In addition I own a high end macaron bakery. Because they are a special order type item most kids wouldn’t order them, it’s more of a platter type thing you would see at a wedding or baby shower. Something the anti-vape promoters never mention is that smoking and vaping are different in some important ways. (1) Smokers typically smoke an entire cigarette, while vapers typically take two or three puffs and stop. (2) Vaping liquid comes in a variety of nicotine strength, so you can choose how much nicotine you consume. It is possible, and in my view highly advisable, to choose nicotine-free or very little nicotine, in order to prevent the possibility of nicotine addiction and the increased heart rate and blood pressure that nicotine causes. It is also easy to choose the chemical content of e-juice to avoid sweeteners which could in extreme circumstances prove harmful, as well as the chemical used to create the liquid. (3) Vaping does not produce secondhand smoke. The vapor a user exhales is odorless water vapor produced by the vaper's own saliva. There is no detectable odor. (4) Prior to the introduction to e-cigarettes, the percentage of smokers in the United States was stuck at 24 to 26 percent for over a decade. As of a year ago it had dropped to 18 percent. That's millions of smokers who were enabled to quit and many more who are not exposed to secondhand smoke. Some former smoker, myself included, find that after some time vaping their nicotine addiction no longer exists so that they can stop nicotine consumption completely. (5) Studies that I have read on the dangers of vaping did not use human beings, but instead used a machine that constantly emitted vapor for 20 minutes. Even several vapers could not produce that much vapor. (6) A U.S. government study attempting to assess the potential fire hazard of vaping was unable to find a single reported instance of fire created by an e-cigarette. The only flammable material in an e-cigarette is in its rechargeable battery, and the risk of fire is sufficiently low that you can find the same type of battery in an aisle display at your local Wal-mart. ... All that being said, companies like Juul produce the most harmful product possible, counting on teens to be irresponsible consumers. If I had my way, which I won't, it would be illegal to sell any vaping products which do not allow the consumer to choose the content of what they are vaping, or alternatively to disallow nicotine content which is above non-addictive level. Several well-replicated studies have identified that level in cigarettes, but most cigarettes are much higher, frequently ten times or more higher. Tobacco companies, unlike most e-cigarette companies, are in the business of creating addicts.

1. Adults liking flavors is not a gimmick argument. If you look through the e-cigarette juices sold in ANY vape store, more than 90% of adult sales are flavored. Nobody likes tobacco flavored e-liquids. It is disgusting in ways we can’t begin to express. 2. The ONLY e-cigarette company that is affiliated with big tobacco is Juul. The vaping “industry” is not like big pharma or big tobacco. With the exception of Juul, most of the recipes for vape flavors were created by hobbyists and shop owners. 3. The nicotine levels in e-cigarettes are drastically different in Juul pods than any other brand. Most vapers use around 3 to 12 mg of nicotine concentrate. These are the bottles of ejuice that you find in all vape shops. But Juul is unique. You can’t fill or empty them. They come with liquid already inside. And the nicotine concentration in them is in excess of 50mg+ of nicotine concentration. I will repeat that. 3 to 12 mg in 90% of e-juice. 50mg+ potential in Juul pods. Flavor bans are not hurting big tobacco (other than Juul). Flavor bans are destroying the mom and pops owned vape shops that you see in your neighborhoods. And underage sales are not coming from these vape shops (they mostly don’t even sell Juul). They are coming from gas stations and liquor stores. Please watch this video of a man pleading at one of these hearings as states banned flavors one by one on faulty science. kzbin.info/www/bejne/baCUXmiGZp2Jfs0 These are the people you are actually hurting, not big tobacco. It is a great injustice that the CDC and FDA are not held responsible for the purposeful demonization of a product that they knew was safe for over a decade. And once and for all, “vaping” is a verb. Vaping nicotine and vaping THC is as independent and as different as smoking cigarettes and smoking marijuana. Please make that distinction when using terms like “vaping”. Despite what the media has tried to portray, vapers are not that justin Bieber looking teen wearing black clothes in a white neighborhood, loitering in front of a gap kids. Vapers are adults who have found a way to quit smoking after trying every other method. And they are thankful to the industry for that. That is why there is a culture around vaping, complete with KZbin reviewers and tutorials. You do not see that with Marlboro. And this infantilization of society...it really needs to stop. You were all teenagers once. That rebellion is a part of growing up. A parent’s job isn’t to stop their children from ever doing something wrong. That isn’t in the realm of possibility. A parent’s job is to guide their children and instill a foundational sense of right and wrong. If you have done that, kids will make both mistakes and good choices. But they will end up as admirable adults in the end. These calls to ban e-cigarettes because of teens...video games because of teen violence...please be parents. The world we live in is our reality. You can’t hide them from that. Instead, prepare them for it. You are destroying 13 million lives without even trying to understand what it is you are attacking. Why do you think our industry was killed so easily? Do you think it would’ve been that easy with the tobacco or alcohol industry? The vaping industry is mostly comprised of middle-class/lower-class citizens who have started businesses. Shops make maybe five dollars for every ejuice that they have created and sold. Excellent post, absolutely on point! Juul isn’t the industry standard at all. I used to smoke now been smoke free for years with the help of vape. 3mg on a subohm tank atm. I would never recommend either smoking or even vaping to a non smoker, they don’t need to get into vaping. I would recommend it to current smokers to help them quit. Vaping is more harmful than breathing fresh air but is nooo way near the harms that cigarettes cause, the lesser of two evils. I’m happy that I quit and don’t stink of cigarette smoke and that my lung isn’t covered in black tar. They should just introduce a strict age limit on kids trying to get their hands on vape kits. But don’t screw the majority of the people who are actually trying to help themselves get away from a dirty habit. As for flavors, I’m an adult and I use flavored juice because they are far nicer than the nasty tobacco flavored ones. Cody Baumgarten Actually „All“ of them... I just heard on a German vape vlog, that the CDC finally had to admit that every single one of the cases of sickness, whether they had admitted to smoking THC pods or not, were found to have THC in their system... So, instead of going after vape products in general, the smart move would have had been to warn the public of all these breaking bad garage pods they were buying and many victims could have been saved. But, no, the CDC made it seem like „vaping“ in general is the problem, they did not stress THC and many more bought that shit and ended up sick. What baffles me is that a handful of people die of illegal THC products consumed through an otherwise unproblematic device and everyone goes bananas. Do you have any idea of how many people died of alcohol and cigarettes during the same time? Look it up and then tell me the world is still in their right mind. Don‘t get me wrong. Each and every single case of someone dying this way is horrible, but they ere consuming an illegal drug! As long as there is a good and functioning market control (as we have it in Europe for example), and sales are limited to certified stores to adults only, there is no problem!!! And yes, I, too, would never have been able to quit cigarettes, had it not been for strawberry and mango flavors etc. Tobacco flavor suck big time, both in cigarettes and vapes, which is why in vapes they have a very miniscule segment of the market...

That isn't the logic of this debate. Everyone knows the danger of alcohol. People drink alcohol willingly despite its adverse affects. People also know what amount of alcohol makes it dangerous. People let alone children did not know the dangers of vaping and the people who may not have been interested may have been encouraged due to flavors becoming an option. When vaping was introduced, it was advertised as a pseudo safe alternative to smoking. Smoking without the adverse options like smell, stained teeth, and other inconveniences. The flavors did play a role but only because the education and knowledge about Vaping wasn't as developed as the knowledge on alcohol. This is just my opinion I could definitely be wrong. It isn't logic it is just an insight.

As someone with a lung disease and passing by cigarette users or vapers... one is far worse for my weak and damaged lungs. Can you do a video on cigarettes now? Because you could do a 20-part series. edit: If I knew this would even get any likes, I would have expanded on my condition a little. But it's an unspecified lung disease the doctors haven't quite figured out. I have to sleep with a heating bad on my right lung every night and cannot sleep on any side other than my left. It comes with pleurisy and constriction. Vaping is world's better for my lungs. I can walk my by vaper (outside) and think Oh that smells good (as long as the cloud isn't too big lol) but I literally do my best to run away / hold my breath if someone smokes. So vapers... you do you and keep on not smoking. Y'all are making a world of difference to people (including yourselves)!

This. I was so hoping for a differentiated segment in this video, instead it's one that actively helps destroy what could be millions of smokers' lifelines. Only way I could ever have quit smoking was with vaping. People still approach me about it almost daily, I don't mind talking to them, about 60-70% think it's as harmful or more harmful than cigarettes. The amount of lives that Trevor could've saved by doing a proper segment is insane. I wish you all the best for your health, take care!

@@the_bottomfragger I completely agree. My fiance is the regional manager of four vape shops here in SoFla. He constantly has to assure people that they won't just drop dead from vaping on a daily basis now because of all the hysteria. Plus, more than 80% of those ill or died from "vaping" were due to vitamin E acetate found illegal THC cartridges purchased from the black market. I personally believe it closer to 90-95% because not everyone will admit to buying something illegal for fear of legal issues or taking responsibility for their actions because who wants to admit their own stupidity not only made them sick but could cost them their life? This segment could've been so much more educational and this really fueled the fire for the "vape hate". I got told this past week that I am a "child murderer" because I was vaping in my car in a parking lot waiting for my fiance to come out of a store. This hysteria hasn't seriously impacted his business, because they have such a solid regular customer base, but this whole "vaping is the devil" shit is getting out of hand. He gets customers from Canada and Europe who vape and the EU and NHS is known to be harsher on regulations than our own CDC/FDA and if the EU and NHS says that vaping is a safer alternative (not 100% because nothing is ever 100% safe), then I'm inclined to believe them as they've done studies that our own CDC/FDA have said they would do, but haven't. I worry that if a flavor and/or vape ban were to take place, more people would become really sick or even die long before the ban is lifted. I'm just disappointed that this segment went in the direction it did.

It is due to high nicotine in a body that has never used nicotine before. Most Juul pods are 5% [50mg] or 6% [60mg] of nicotine. That is equivalent to more than 2 traditional cigarettes. As someone who was an employee in a very large vape company that has multiple locations in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas, I can without a doubt say that all of this media bullshit is not helping the ADULT vaping community whatsoever. Juul and devices like these need to be removed from all shelves in every store that they are readily available at. Not to mention parents need to become more informed on these devices and actually protect their kids from using these as they are NOT intended for children. Nicotine poisoning is a thing and it terrible that children are becoming addicted to nicotine all because they think vaping is "cool". There need to be more strict regulations on the sale of vape-related products and parents who purchase vapes or their liquids for their children should be held accountable, preferably arrested.
