Some standards are changed ("reduced") because it's realized that they're not necessary to do a job well. Back in the day, bakers were required to be able to lift and carry 100lb bags of flour, and this resulted in a lot of women being excluded from the profession. He and Senator Sheehy, R-Montana, agreed as Secretary of Defense his number one priority should be to have the backs of the warriors. Protecting our fighting men and women is indeed important. But as Secretary of Defense, his #1 priority is to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution. That should be the guiding principle that guides all other actions.
