yes flying around dams is not a specific no no but some larger dams are under surveillance by home land security. Here in Austin, Texas where Adam was for a little bit the Mansfield Dam you can not get near with a drone or even to take pictures of it...even though you drive right across the front face of it lol

The nearby town of Bauxite was named for the aluminum ore they found and started mining in the late 1800s. One of the companies was Reynold's, known for Reynold's Wrap. There is still a street here named Reynold's Road. Oh, and if you want a good burger, check out Cotham's Mercantile. It was a general store back in the day. It's in Scott, just outside of North Little Rock, out past the Toltec indian mounds state park.

Yea, that was creepy. Wondering if he turned you into the FAA for flying too close to those power lines. Wouldn't worry about it too much, perhaps just wondering what on blue blazes you were doing.
@LadyDragonsblood7 жыл бұрын
Adam I would say it was security for the dam. Dams are considered targets... and flying the drone might not have been the best idea around a dam. He should have stopped and talked to you BUT, they just don't. It's like I told someone else, kind of like the white trucks that spy on folks around Area 51 that tend to get to close. I wouldn't worry about it. If they did check you out, they know you are safe and not a threat! Guess it's better to be safe than sorry. Don't let that spoil your trip through my beautiful home state. Arkansas is a WONDERFUL place! And I am proud to be an ARKANSAN!!!!

@LadyDragonsblood7 жыл бұрын
I would think so. Flying the drone was probably not the best idea in that area. Dams are considered targets for terrorists.... so usually security is extra high around them. They could have asked, BUT, that's not they way they work. Kind of reminded me of the white trucks you see around Area 51 when people get too close.

Dams are considered high risk sites for potential terrorist attack. Over the past 20 years, security has been heightened around dams across the country. The fact that you were flying a drone in its vicinity made security curious as to what you were doing and forced them to stay close to you to determine if your intentions were hostile.

Front part of Gann doctor's office is bauxite (the part where the blocks look stone- or mineral-like). Hey Bro, Dams generally do a bit of low-level filtering by using screens and things to keep the debris out. Sticks, trash and other stuff that can be stopped by larger screens that don't impede the flow of the water. So, its not really filtration in the traditional sense, but it does filter out some larger particles. Also, flying a drone and filming around a dam and power lines is one of the things that homeland security might be on the lookout for. Terrorists would love to attack a dam or power supply. Just FYI, something to think about when filming/flying. Great video bro as always.

Adam, think about it a minute. You were flying a drone near a dam that holds back a goodly amount of water and near high voltage power lines ( meaning also that the dam is a hydro electric generator). You were operating out of a RV and were apparently, at least as far as an observer could tell, alone. It would not surprise me if the driver of the white pickup was either an employee at the dam OR works security there. I'm sure the driver wrote down a description of your vehicle and it's tag and called the Law Enforcement agency with jurisdiction in the area and was advised to stay away from you but to keep eyes on you and your vehicle. I was a bit surprised that you were not intercepted by a Sheriff's Deputy or State Trooper either at the dam or somewhere on the road after you left. The people responsible for the dam and residents of the area were thinking "Terrorist!!!" and your Florida tag would kind of stand out in rural Arkansas and near a dam that is probably very important to the people of the area/region for the electricity it provides. Since you were NOT stopped by Law Enforcement and questioned about your visit to the dam I'm sure they ran a check on your tag and YOU. Welcome to the 21st century.
@adamthewoo7 жыл бұрын
I hung around there a good long while just to see what would happen and if others would show up. No police ever did which was the confusing part. Thanks for the comment

Yes, these lakes are used for drinking water for many towns in the area. Residents and Gov. Keep special watch physically and via cameras for terrorist activities. Someone with a drone would be checked out for sure. Don't worry, just go to a public area and stop them and ask them what they want and they will tell you. This started after 911. Enjoy your visit. Its safe....
@fdmackey36667 жыл бұрын
I suspect the registration check on Large Marge and a check for criminal wants or warrants on the registered owner (you I assume) came back negative which of course is a good thing. Since you did nothing to damage the dam or the electric lines nor take OR leave anything (trash, etc.) at the place you parked the, most likely understaffed Local Law Enforcement Agency, did not feel that sending a Deputy or Trooper to check you and Large Marge out was necessary. The fellow in the pickup was, I strongly suspect, doing his job which included keeping an eye out for anyone littering or attempting to damage (for grins and chuckles or worse) the dam or the power lines. Besides, it's possible that once the LEOs ran your tag, they knew it was just Adamthewoo doing his thing....Your fans are legion! Thanks for the kind response.

I live on Bull Shoals Lake. I not unusual to have someone watching you if they are patrolling. You won't see police. They just want you to know they know your there. Kind of a head trip thing. But sweety if you go back on the lower side of any of our dams and you hear a loud siren get out of there cause that means they are about to let out more water and you might get flooded. You need to email me and let me fill you in on this hill country. Seriously. Pluse I got a 4x4
