Instagram- AdamTheWooATW Into the bowels on the tar pits ! The new layout of the museum is nice . Thought I'd would just be one section or room but in fact they adjusted and changed around a bunch of stuff

A few years ago I was on the other side of the street near the Folk Art Museum, it was August (Hot!) and there was tar coming up through the cracks on the sidewalk on the other side of Wilshire.

We were there a few years ago; a lot of the exhibit hall was sectioned off because they were setting these new displays up.Thanks for showing what they did!! The Tar Pits has a special place in my heart; when I was a little kid my dad got me a book they sold in the gift shop as a souvenir when we visited once. This was before I could read - maybe 5 years old - so I made my parents read the book to me so many times I memorized it. Showing it to a friend one day, it suddenly hit me... The letters on the page were SOUNDS!!! Yes, I learned to read because of the La Brea Tar Pits. :-)

This place makes me so sad. The faces of all those statutes and exhibits, especially the elephant scene just make me feel bad. Nature is scary and so dang fascinating.

Thanks for the virtual visit! I went to the museum back in 2006 on a visit to Disneyland and it certainly helped along my love of Ice Age animals. I've actually been writing a book about them in my part of the world. And yes, the Columbian mammoth was taller than the mastodon at about 13' to a mastodon's 9' :) But don't worry, a mastodon wouldn't bite you... Those knobby teeth were for chewing through branches.

This place looks so cool, I might need to start saving money to see this. But is also gives me the Vibes of the Elephant Bones we got at the Oregon Zoo. Especially the Bones at the start of the museum, I literally went " Oh it's good old Jumbo's Cousin. Cause the Remains at the Zoo are of the First Male Elephant at the Zoo. He was a Circus Elephant named Jumbo and he Sired the parents of most of the Current Herd at the Zoo. They are very Spoiled Pacaderms. So seeing a Mammoth the size of Jumbo...I am actually a bit impressed, by how Jumbo kept the size going.

Butterfly into the danger zone. Fly into the danger zone! Gotta love Kenny and his classic movie songs from 80’s. Starting with caddy shack. There a place you could visit to see the filming location of that classic. If you liked it anyways. Rodney and Ted and Chevy and Bill oh my so many. Hated by most of the critics back then, but still loved today by millions.

I'm from LA.... What many may not understand about the "Tarpits" is that you're NOT seeing fossils. Fossils are organic material that has had its chemical makeup replace by other other minerals . The Tar Pits offer actual bones. The tar preserved their actual chemical elements ...
