Tip off at a reasonable time. Don’t tell me the game starts at 7pm when the tip off isn’t for another 35mins after having to sit through talking heads pointless comments about the game and team. MLB has a first pitch time. NFL is on time (noon, 3 and 3:25pm central time) and that’s when they kickoff. Hockey tells me when the puck drop is. Quit trying to force things. I've followed the NBA since 1993, and the last few years have been a grind to watch. 1. No passion. If a player looks at another player they get a technical. Let the players express emotion and passion. 2. Zero rivalries. See point 1 mixed with players that often switch teams. 3. People don't like politics in their sport. 4. They're over paid. Their contracts should be based on W/L. Perform well and meet your KPIs, then you get a bonus. Like everyone else in the working world. I bet they'd play hard then. 5. Of course the boring 3pt shooting. It's made 45 out of 48 minutes pretty much irrelevant uneventful, no drama filled basketball

The major problems with the NBA are the three-point shot load management guarantee contracts And effort They can fix these things if you get rid of guarantee contracts people are gonna try a whole lot more silly can make sure they have a job next year so there’s contract problem and the effort problem. If you change the three-point shot to only count as a three points if you’re tied or down in the game and the last three minutes of each quarter that’s when they should count three-pointers and then load management if the player doesn’t play start penalizing him on the team by not letting him play in the playoffs if they miss a certain amount of games, they miss a certain amount of games in each series of the playoffsThat would make the NBA more interesting and then people would probably start to watch again.

For all the issues I keep hearing about baseball, this show included, somehow gets a pass with the NBA is infuriating. Thankfully Shoei, and a good overall season for the game brought back some eyeballs to the WBC. I digress, but the NBA is boring. Half of the stars sit out for load management. In baseball you at least saw Shoei to Aaron Judge bat almost every night, and most pitchers show up every few days. The only load management you see are innings pitch, but at least they playing over wearing a suit on a bench. I can go into the weeds all day, but when your biggest stars don't play a quarter to a third of the year, that's a problem. When you need to generate interest with some made up cup where it feels like half of the teams don't care, that's a problem. You've got a generation of fans coming into the game with attention spans they've developed from watching tik toks and KZbin shorts. Millennial fans like me are focused on their kids, careers, etc. My peers at work are more up to date on Bluey than they are on the NBA. When we do tune in, we see the things we value not as prevalent as we remember them. I personally don't want to see 60 three pointers and 240 points scored in a basketball game. I went to three random games last year just to see star players jump around the bench in their street clothes. It might just be my luck, but it was enough for me to only go back to staples center for hockey games.

There are maybe 3 NBA teams that still have loyal basketball fans.(knicks, bulls, maybe philly or toronto). All the rest are just stuck with temporary novelty fans.

The fact that the cohost was shocked that Dan stated that Jokic is not must-see tv..is wild. He is not must-see ANYTHING. The league changed the rules so that players like him, could compete. Before the rules changes, there was no way he could compete in the NBA with his minimal athleticism.

@@istanprincecharlesteamcami1026 It is absolutely, true. The rules helped NON-Athletic players of European descent, the most. Do you really think Jokic could have hung with Olajuwon, Shaq, David Robinson..etc? Having to actually play defense? Having to actually deal with them guarding him, for real? He had a hard time with an old Dwight Howard!!! It would be laughable. Adam Silver and the owners want a GLOBAL game, and you need ‘stars’ from that region..so he had to make the game more tenable for the slower, less-athletic player..so many of the rule changes helped them..SPECIFICALLY. You cannot comprehend strategic moves such as that, because your entire life is probably based on random occurrences….like a leaf in the wind.

I strongly disagree. Jokic would absolutely be great in any era. Imagine Shaq trying to guard Jokic facilitating the fast break or guarding him around the Whole floor. Just because he can’t jump over a piece of paper doesn’t mean he isn’t athletic

For the past few years, every time I get excited for a big national TV game, I quickly find out that at least 1 or 2 stars are sitting. It’s almost every week now. Load management is trash.

My biggest issues with the nba are some of the players are spoiled (won’t play back to backs, sitting out games for stubbed toe) and the ticky tack fouls.

I have gradually lost interest over the past decade. I miss the rivalries/anomosity, being unreliant upon just chucking up 3’s and everyone else stands around, playing hard every night w/o load management, prioritizing both sides of the court, etc. Subjectively, I do miss the physicality.

Some easy fixes: 1) Either shorten the season to 66 games, or shorten the game to 10 min quarters. 2) First round of the playoffs should be a format where Conference champ gets a bye, all others play a single elimination game at the home site of the better record. Second round is the 8 teams left in each conferece in a best of 35. Third round is 4 teams left, best of 5. Conference finals and finals are best of 7. 3) Change the AS game to USA vs World. Also add 1V1 King of the Court, and 3v3 tournament, where each team has to provide players, single elimination. Change the dunk contest to a horse dunk (players do dunk, others have to match) and have 1 player from each team represent. For 3v3, dunk & 3 pt contest, have a fan competition prior and the champion gets to compete in the NBA games at AS. 4) Have an official in the production studio/truck who monitors ALL calls/non-calls and has immediate access to replay. None of the on-court officials are in charge of replay. If a replay is necessary or asked for by a coach challenge, the official in the truck/studio has 15 total seconds to render a decision and if they cannot, oncourt call stands and move on with gameplay. No replay will take more than 15 seconds. 5) Move the charge circle out 3 more feet. 6) Change the backcourt from 8 seconds to 6.

I'm European, and I became an NBA fan in the nineties. But lately, like many other European NBA fans, I have completely lost interest in the NBA, because who cares about NBA games? NBA games have become irrelevant, a lot of fake records and fake drama. The Euroleague is more interesting this time. The level of team basketball and coaching is higher, the palyers IQ is higher, and every single game in the regular season is important like in the NFL. Euroleague ratings are growing rapidly, YT is full of Euroleague podcasts and so on. Lonnie Walker recently said: this is real basketball.

Maybe everyone is finally recognizing that basketball is a boring game. It’s a mind numbing scoring fest, that doesn’t matter to watch until the last 2 minutes - and even then it’s insufferable watching foul after foul.

Problem with the take at 1:55 is that the old guard of the NBA tried to put on "the best pick up game in the world" and players maybe went 80% now players literally give 10% or less effort during the all star game

Regular season NBA is awful. None of the games mean anything. There's almost no luck in basketball so the best team almost always win in a playoff series. With this play in garbage almost 2/3rds of the league makes the playoffs. The players don't care about the regular season and neither do I. The all star game is horrendous. The only sports with a good all star game is baseball because the players actually try and play a normal game.
@ABxx201114 сағат бұрын
It's not complicated. Just look at what made the NBA popular in the first place. Charismatic stars, spectacular plays, intense rivalries. Now we've got boring "stars," nothing but 3's, and the players are all friends collecting stats and money.
