He'd be great as an mediocre minors manager coming over to a new organization and flipping a dying crop of last chance first rounders. Or an independent ball manager getting his chance to get back to the MLB affiliated pipeline. He'll have to master fungos though.

I always was a good hitter growing up and batted 3rd or 4th on every time, but I also a hard throwing good pitcher as well. When I got to high school I was throwing about 87-88mph as a freshman and then 90mph as a sophomore. Our coach had a rule that he wouldn't let pitchers hit under any circumstances. To me it was just so incredibly stupid because the other best pitcher and I were also the best hitters. So, basically I never picked up a bat again after like 12 or 13 years old, and I blew out my arm for good by the start of my senior year and stopped playing. So, a few years back I was 27-28 and I went to hit balls with my friend at the local high school. The field was 330ft down the lines and 405ft to center. I was hitting home runs dead center around 450ft. I even managed to hit 9 home runs out of 20 pitches (we'd throw 20 at a time then switch) at one point, averaging probably around 380ft. I realize we were just throwing like 50-60mph batting practice, but it gets you thinking just like Costner said that the potential was there.

@@KnockOffBeingFat I'm sorry but the idea that an actor MUST do whatever fans want because they "make his career" is absurd. Actors are paid to appear in movies and do press interviews to promote them, that's it. They don't owe anyone jack shit on the street, and the people who have the attitude that they do are probably why they don't want to sign autographs in the first place. Some celebrities are nice enough to do it anyways, but I'm sure even the friendliest of them have days where they are in a bad mood or in a rush and can't. Like every other person in the world.
