Could listen to Clay speak on football a lot more. Others are right, he’s extremely well spoken and clear why he was so good at football. HOF guy on and off the field.

Always thought Clay was White-hype good. Glad to hear he knew it and still maxed out what was available. Bears fan so didn't see him play enough to upgrade my opinion. Solid interview.

Dude comes from Football Royalty. 3 generations of Matthews all had long careers in the NFL

I think people have already forgotten how dominant Clay was. He should have won DPOY the year they won the Superbowl and he should be a HF
@nolongerblocked62109 күн бұрын
It's awesome Clay's being honest! That's why I never liked that New Orleans "bounty" situation. That's what you're supposed to do as a defender, hit em hard & knock em outta the game if they can't take it. All the people complaining about Mahomes getting calls should be whining to the league bcuz they're the ones that made the rules, Mahomes is doing what every other player on the field is doing... trying to take every advantage he possibly can

Does clay have long hair because of pat tillman? I think i heard aj hawk say that they grew it out because of him

@thomascharles796110 күн бұрын
Josh Allen does that crap much more than mahomes does. But dan just focuses on pat. Brady did it too. Burrow does it too. Stop the madness.
@nolongerblocked62109 күн бұрын
I don't know who does it more, but they're all trying to get any advantage they can... why shouldn't they?? Winning or losing in the Playoffs is on a razors edge, those little advantages could be the difference between winning or losing. If people don't like the rules complain to the league
@Riles315210 күн бұрын
I like Clay Matthew’s, but in general, if you have to think critically about or debate on whether someone is a Hall of Famer or not, they shouldn’t be a Hall of Famer. You won’t have to think about whether or not Tom Brady, or Aaron Donald, or Aaron Rodgers or even Patrick Mahomes are HOF’s. That’s who the Hall of Fame should be reserved for. Not a bunch of guys who were more very good than Hall of Fame great. Sadly, that’s what the NFL Hall of Fame is slowly turning towards.
@nolongerblocked62109 күн бұрын
You're naming all-time greats & saying if you're not an all-time great you don't deserve to be in the HOF?? That's a ridiculous standard, the HOF would have 50 people if that was the standard
@Iceman_Cool9 күн бұрын
Its very close IMO. Very close. Clay arguably should of been on the all decade squad. He was definitely the first one off and IMO you are almost a lock for HOF if you make one of those. Its not all a numbers game, clay sacrificed numbers when he switched to MLB during a season to help the team and did a good job plugging the hole
@Riles31529 күн бұрын
@@nolongerblocked6210 My point exactly! The standards should be freakin really high on who does and doesn't get in. Otherwise what's the point of it being a "hall of fame" if guys who weren't even transcendent for there era or generation get to go in too? If you can't get in by the 3rd try at most, then were you actually a hall of famer??
@lorenbowser768110 күн бұрын
I'm a big Packers fan and Clay fan but he definitely isn't HOF material. He's Hall of pretty good. AJ Hawk was a better defensive player alot of those years in GB. Hawk has almost 300 more tackles and more INTs.
@Riles315210 күн бұрын
I agree, that ultimately I would say Matthews is more hall of very good than Hall of Fame, but to me he was the 2nd most valuable player on those 2010’s Green Bay defenses after Charles Woodson. He was a gamebreaker.
@nolongerblocked62109 күн бұрын
I'm not saying he's a HOF'er, but sacks are far more important than tackles beyond the line of scrimmage
@Iceman_Cool9 күн бұрын
He was definitely better than AJ hawk. Hawk had years be was very good, clay had years he was truly elite
@peterspringer51879 күн бұрын
Totally disagree. Hawk played inside linebacker, which accounts for having more tackles. Matthews was a much more impactful player. Matthews made six pro bowls to Hawk's one.
