I especially love how contrasting his class role is compared to his demeanor in his Caster class. His Caster counterpart would probably have taken the job of being a grail war overseer seriously, and then we have his actual Ruler counterpart shirking his duties and outright giving 0 shits to the growing wildfire that is the ritual. Jeanne did her job and Amakusa at least did it kinda, meanwhile Ruler Gil's all "a fucka-do, let em kill each other"

He said it himself in the game, he is weakened for being a rogue and only using a fraction of his power on iori and saber. Iori and saber by no means are weak both are very capable individuals with strong abilities (without going into spoiler) and even then they struggle quite a lot

Okay, maybe wanking a little bit much there. Gilgamesh probably used 25% of his power in the second half of the fight here at least. The fact that he's a rogue, may lower those numbers a little, but I digress. The protagonists here are no joke, and the dude pays them respect. Considering a peak Artoria can match a serious Gilgamesh, I'd say, "a fraction of his power," is Gilgamesh downplaying the fight for fun.

Because all I see is a small number of gates (maybe even less than the number of gates he used against Shiro), so I don't think he used even 1% of his power. Anyone who knows a little about Gilgamesh will understand this The fact that he is a rogue means that he is at the level of a shadow servant (very weak). Add to that the fact that he does not end the battle seriously. A little calculations and you will understand. Nasu mentioned that the servant Gil is stronger than Salter, and he mentioned that Salter is stronger than the living Artoria, which means that the servant Gil is stronger than the living Artoria.

@@E0ns Because I've actually seen enough of and know enough about Gilgamesh to know that the power he was using, was not 1%. A quarter of his power seems more accurate by the second stage of the fight. Granted, if he weren't a Rogue Servant, he'd probably just be using 10% or something. Considering Richard can casually blast through Gate of Babylon, frustrating Gilgamesh, and Artoria can straight up murder the guy + invoke caution in him, I honestly feel like I'm downplaying Miyamoto Lori & his Saber Servant, considering whom they both are. Rogue's aren't that weak. I dunno where you got that from neither. Gilgamesh was inside his territory, and while yes he still wasn't up to par compared to the standard, Rogue's as a whole still aren't pushovers. I believe it was mentioned that Cú Chulainn & Rogue Berserker were so strong anyway that they were basically still performing at the level of high level Servants. Granted, when outside their own territory, that statement may no longer apply. You're taking that out of context. Nasu refers to his own franchise similar to how casually George Lucas is when describing Star Wars. He basically meant Saber Alter's ability to spam Excalibur & Mana Burst at full power was greater than she normally was in life. Otherwise no, Saber Alter is not stronger than regular Artoria. Artoria normally had a ton more powerful Noble Phantasms, can unseal Excalibur's full power in world level scenario's, is faster, more skilled via a hightened Instinct, has Avalon, etc. Basically Artoria in life, and also regular Artoria for that matter, (with Avalon), are still superior. Peak Artoria has beaten Gilgamesh twice, and stalemated him once. The one in Stay Night, he fully intended to kill Artoria with his final blast from EA, which was implied to be at full power, even if it was condensed, and he lost anyway. Also, if we're logical about it, as long as Artoria has Avalon, there's no way Gilgamesh can actually kill Artoria. He might be able to still win in his goals, depending on the situation, and in most cases stalemate her, but it straight up cannot be proven if he can overcome Avalon. Regardless, even without Avalon. Gilgamesh is wary of Artoria's power. Which is why he instantly backed away when she got close before he was prepared for it. Anyhow, we've seen Gilgamesh perform at his best. So it's quite easy to gauge what level he's performing at every other time nowadays.

King Arthur has always been an OG idea. More OG than Gilgamesh in fact, as Karna was originally supposed to be in his role instead. The fact that Arthur got genderbent, changes nothing. Furthermore, Artoria is her own character, has her own style, look, gimmick, personality & move/powerset. I don't see how she'd be a, "meh cameo" when she's a fan favourite just as much as the best of them.

Tried this fight in highest difficulty (no ng+ version) and knowing how the battle recollection fights are much tougher this guy.... is one shotter his skill where he pulls out chains from underground is one hit ko in void style ore any style lol the startup is fast then interupting it is also unlike the (story fight in same difficulty) is muh tighter in battle recollection mode.... even Servants are one shotted by that move......

He does react to being hit, but it requires you hit him during his extremely rare vulnerable periods or to do it with a Servant - basically every notable enemy in the game can only be hitstunned like that to stop you from mashing to stop them from moving, something very important for when you get Void Stance and can thus attack so fast that anything without those restrictions cannot touch you.

Long answer: See the sf scene with enkidu then read every servants powers and abilities from that war which gil immediately could have ended with his enuma elish and tell me who can beat them all at once. Even longer answer: how wouldn't he be? Gil can solo Hercules. A pillar. Wasn't affected by the mud(see artoria for more) can summon 7 servants has command seals and that's just the surface layer of things. So powerful lb had to write him out of direct fighting until 7. He's said by nasu to be the strongest servant ever and again "servant" not being servant in case anyone wants to say "can he beat a type" or something stupid like that.
