34 year old Croatian here. My old man brought me right, classic rock foundation, grew up in the 90's and thought I was familiar with pretty much everything from that era. I've found this band today and just listened to Hollywood Town Hall and Tomorrow the Green Grass back to back. I haven't been this happy about music since I've listened to Black Crowes first two records for the first time. Funny enough, George Drakoulias produced all four of those records. I just want to share and send these good feelings I have in me right now on this Sunday's evening to all!

In addition to the Jayhawks being underrated in almost every way, Gary Louris is terribly ignored as a fine lead guitarist. His leads are always perfect for the song, and the tone that he achieves here is incredible.

FACT: Petty's riff was written in 1988 and 1989 and was never finished for Full Moon Fever and shelved because he hadn't finished it and was leaning towards more acoustic songs. It was brought up again when he needed a song to put on his '93 Greatest Hits thing for MCA because he couldn't wait to leave the label. If anything the Jayhawks stole the riff from Petty. @@Dilapsor i kinda doubt it. Simply because there is just way more music in general these days than ever. Which will mean more shitty music naturally. More good music too, but its about the ratio. If we just focus on mainstream for example....what most ppl know...theres much more shitty to good music now than there was in the 90s. Now the 90s have several diff eras, some being better than others, but in the 90s even the mainstream acts still had talent as bands and truly made and could play good music where as today its much more "engineered" if you will. In all honestly, musicians that actually play music arent even really needed, but they need someone to be famous and have celebs lol. Any possible thing you could imagine could be created by one person on a computer. The producers these days are the actual musicians.

Yeah Tom Petty used a E cord in his song, and only The Jayhawks use the E cord in their songs. Come on muh dudes the songs might share some progressions and style, but Mary Janes Last Dance is a different song end of story. Plagiarism is a slippery slope when it comes to music, and if you look hard enough you will always find something that "stole" from something else.

I never waited for anyone to fall but. rise . my friend was maybe fourteen years old we hitchhiked we got picked up by some elderly strait cat driven a Benz it was cloudy like on the ground my friend having only a fender mustang git says pull over the drive r said there's nothing out here but cows! my friend said ya drop us here we proceeded to Gainesville with a bag schrooms anyway waiting for the rain.d Cervin.

Beautiful tune. Maybe I like it because the singer's voice isn't autotuned and phony.

HIlarious that people think Petty is running around trying to lift material from the Jayhawks and I like the Jayhawks.

The starting riff sounds a little like Dani California by RHCP. Aint it?

the jayhawks wrote this, petty made mary jane's dance from it, rhcp copied it, kenny chesney copied it and a few others. there are riffs from this song that also have similarities to other tom petty songs. but the jayhawks were the first.

Well I don't know, but I've been told. You never slow down, you'll never grow old. Tired of screwing up, tired of going down. Tired of myself, tired of this town. Oh my my oh hell yes, you gotta put on that party dress. . .
