No they don't look anything like the flowers from a hazel tree but take a look at the hazel nut clusters
@fw190011 сағат бұрын
Nothing has changed. Either side can launch nukes, same story,. Launch expensive conventional weapons, same story. Oreshnik is just another expensive conventional or potential nuclear weapon. So your turn , tell me. what has changed? Cant be shot down? Well if you launch enough conventional arms, same story. Faster? So it just hit faster. Doesn't change a thing.
@Larry1164-lb8uv10 сағат бұрын
What has changed? Complete domination in conventional war is what has changed. This is technology that is a generation ahead of what the west has, and China likely has it too. The US thought their carriers would carry them forever. They are now sitting ducks. If we got into a conventional war with Russia we would likely lose so badly that we would have to resort to nukes as opposed to surrender in humiliation.
@petermclaren26658 сағат бұрын
@@fw1900 What has changed is that one side has a weapon the other side, for the time being, doesn't have. This gives Russia a strategic advantage given that it's unlikely the US would counter by launching nukes. Sure speed is one advantage but it's coupled with "meteor like" impact as Putin said when he referenced Tunguska. And he also said - to your point -in Kazan that the advantage would be temporary.
@ExtraStout897 сағат бұрын
@@fw1900 it is a hypersonic glide vehicle - not a ballistic missle. Only aegis system has a small chance to shoot it down. It can deliver kinetic warheads that can cause devastation to precise targets and also hardened underground targets. Top this with the fact the west has no analog - meaning - poor Russia economy has developed higher tech missles than the us. Now Putin does not need to rely on nukes to achieve similar strategic goals in Ukraine bc hardened targets can now be destroyed without nuclear weapons. And again in Ukraine there are no air defense systems capable of stopping this hypersonic weapon. Other intricacies as well - this system CAN carry nuclear warheads as well - So when the US alerted to this in air - only 15-20 mins to decide what to do - no way to tell what type of warhead is attached. The speed and power of this weapon system is what has changed the paradigm. All that matters in the future is drones and hypersonic missles. The days of aircraft carrier and f35 dominance is over

What l still don't understand and what suprises me most is that these journalists seem more worried of what the war will cost Russia and they don't seem to take into account that the American government is also suffering from this war more than anybody else in terms of money Does it mean that all the financial aids , military aids and all other supports are cartered for and paid for by other countries? Doesn't it cost the Washington anything? I am taken aback by this kind of journalism. Ordinary Americans are suffering but the elites are gambling out taxpayers money. Completely irresponsible leaders who don't care about people suffering out in the streets and working class people toilling every. Wouldn't it be more sensible to take care of Americans first. Our international image is being destroyed while we gamble taxpayers money in wars.

Why Oreshnik (Hazelnut Tree), they ask. From what I've read about this weapon, its warhead delivery system involves a cluster-like release mechanism similar to the arrangement of nuts within a hazelnut's husk. The association with the hazelnut tree clustering and protective nature align with the features one might expect from a modern intermediate-range ballistic missile designed to evade defences and deliver multiple warheads effectively. 1. Symbolic Representation: In Russian culture and folklore, plants and trees often carry symbolic meanings. The hazelnut tree might be seen as strong, resilient, and capable of producing multiple "fruits," mirroring the missile's multi-warhead capability. 2. Codename Tradition: Russia has a history of naming its military projects after animals, plants, or cultural references. These codenames often carry deeper symbolic meanings or are chosen to obscure the project's true nature. 3. Defensive and Protective Connotation: The husk of a hazelnut protects the nut inside, much like the missile might protect its payload until release, or the system itself might have advanced defensive measures that shield it from interception.
